Before COVID-19 was a thing we worried about I got in a great battle at my Friendly Local Gaming Store. In today’s post, we take a look at some pictures and highlights from my last game of Bolt Action.

You may remember last week that I showed off some pictures from my first game of Lord of the Rings. That game was a lot of fun! This week’s post is along the same lines, but for Bolt Action instead. For those that don’t know about Bolt Action, it is a WW2 miniatures game that has some similarities to the older versions of 40K. Warlord Games publishes this game with the partnership of many companies including Osprey Publishing and others.

Now, let’s talk about the scenario and look at some pictures.

The Bolt Action Battle

Like other games, Bolt Action has a number of scenarios that you can choose to play. In this case, we diced off and came to the scenario “Key Positions.” In “Key Positions” each side tries to capture a number of objectives on the table. You capture on objective by having a unit within 3″ of it at the end of the game. The game is to last 6 turns with a 50/50 chance for a 7th turn.

We placed terrain before choosing sides and rolling for the scenario. Below is how we set up the table with four objectives to collect. I played as the British Army and my opponent, Richard, played as the German Fallschirmjäger.

All of the terrain on this table belongs to my favorite FLGS (Forbes Hobbies in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada).

Now today’s post is not a full battle report, but rather a look at the game in pictures.

The Pictures

The British use the cover of their armored vehicle and the houses to advance their troops. Image from Must Contain Minis.

The German Fallschirmjäger running up the opposite side of the table. There are a lot of them! Image from Must Contain Minis.

The British capture the house that counts as an objective. The Germans rush in to take it away. There is a Flame thrower team to the left of the bush. The red dice are pin markers and the group in the house is taking a lot of fire. Image from Must Contain Minis.

On the other side of the table, the Germans take out a British Tank Hunter with Panzerfaust. Image from Must Contain Minis.

The British soldiers take on the two groups of German soldiers, and get completely annihilated when they try to take the house! Image from Must Contain Minis.

At the end of the day, the British hold two objectives versus the Germans’ one. British Victory! Image from Must Contain Minis.

Wrapping it up…

Hopefully, you enjoyed this quick pictorial battle report. This is but a small explanation of the battle that raged on. For a full battle report with turn by turn breakdowns, check out the original Battle Report. Special thanks goes out to Forbes Hobbies for allowing me to use their space and terrain for this report. They are currently in the process of re-opening from the shutdown. If you live in the area, be sure to ask them there hours on Facebook and drop by sometime while they are open. They really are a great store.

Thanks again for reading, and until next time, Happy Gaming Everyone!!!

I would like to use this opportunity to let you know about my latest post on Must Contain Minis. It is a huge 2800 word report where I discuss my newest quest in finding myself a showcase gaming table for my work on Must Contain Minis and Bell of Lost Souls. In it, I take a look at 4 companies that make designer game tables, 4 carpenters that can build custom tables, and multiple ways that you can build your own.
