Warhammer 40K

Ursus Claws are a longtime part of the world of 40K, and soon they’ll be a part of your games of Adeptus Titanicus. Come take a look at the upcoming rules.

Ursus Claws, if you can believe the stories, are a powerful weapon used by Titans across the galaxy in legendary battles that dot the history of the Imperium. First introduced in Betrayer, by the one and only ADB, Ursus Claws are a weapon meant to kill Titans. They’re basically like the harpoons from the Snowspeeders out of Empire Strikes Back, in that they are a magnetic harpoon that is fired into a titanic walking vehicle and used to pull the mighty behemoths down.

Ursus Claws are one of the signature weapons of Warhound Titan, and their rules are introduced in Shadow and Iron, while the bit itself is included in the fittingly named Ursus Claw upgrade kit. Check it out.

These Warhound weapons are short ranged, reaching out only 12″ at the maximum, with a short range of 8″ or closer. And it only gets to roll a single die with a strength of 3. But, it makes use of special rules, notably the Impale rule, which changes the way hit works. Instead of making an Armour roll, when you hit with an Ursus Claw you roll d6 and add the Strength of the attack (so 3), plus 1 per additional Impale weapon in the attack. Compare the final result to the Scale of the Titan in question and then you start doing some real damage.

If you manage to equal the scale of the titan you’re attacking, you can force it to turn left or right. If you BEAT their scale though, you get to deal d3+1 devastating hits, with any catastrophic damage automatically Laying Low the target, sending it stumbling in a random direction before it falls.

Of course, these rules mean you’ll have to squad up if you want to bring them to bear on big targets, so it’s not exactly like it is in the novels, but in 40K, what is?

Look for the Ursus Claw upgrade kit soon online and in stores!
