Wizards of the Coast finally managed to keep Amazon from leaking book details ahead of time–but we know that something big is coming November 17th.

After years of being foiled by publisher website listings, it seems that Wizards of the Coast have finally managed to keep a lid on their latest announcement. On the Sunday before the big announcement, the big details like title, cover image, or a product description were nowhere to be found.

All Amazon had was a very short product page that you could use to pre-order the book. This is a first this year, after every other big reveal has been inadvertently leaked, including:

Mythic Odysseys of Theros which leaked through Penguin Random House.

The Unearthed Arcana Featuring the Love Domain which was discovered when someone guessed at URLs.

Rime of the Frostmaiden leaked early through D&D Beyond.

Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount which leaked through Amazon with no cover image or title simply (March Release Book).

Eberron: Rising from the Last War which leaked with a much different cover image.

But as of press time, the Amazon product listing is suspiciously missing details. All you get is the placeholder: November Title (Announced August 24), as well as the release date: November 17th, the price: $49.95, and the weight: 1.2 pounds. This last detail sparked some discussion online, among folks who actually use the Encumbrance Rules. They point out that “Previous titles weigh in a little bit heavier, with most adventure modules weighing in around 2-2.5 pounds.” They also point out two notable exceptions:

  • Xanathar’s Guide to Everything weighs only 1.6 pounds
  • The Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide which weighs 1.5 pounds

Though it bears mentioning, that the original weight for Rime of the Frostmaiden was listed as 1.25 pounds, so this could simply be a placeholder weight. If accurate, however, that does seem to track with this being a more player-facing book than anything else. We’ll be keeping a close eye on WotC’s announcements today, so check back later on for the full details and reveal.

Happy Adventuring!
