The Space Marines got some new Primaris Models alongside the codex – come take a look at their new kits!

We got our hands on the new batch of Space Marine models. The Invader ATV, the Firestrike Servo-turret and the new Primaris Chaplain on Bike.

Invader ATV

To say this model has been divisive would be a bit of an understatement. From a rules-side of the house, it’s actually pretty solid. But from a modeling perspective…well, it just doesn’t make a ton of sense. Design-wise, it’s got a pretty shallow ground clearance. That’s not great for an All Terrain Vehicle. If you’ve ever been mudding or gone off-roading, you kinda need some ground clearance. The gunner’s weapon is also positioned directly above the driver. I know Space Marine helmets have a lot of really good optics and ear protection – but I would not want to be the driver when that gun goes off.

Aside from those things, as a physical model, it goes together really well. It was a very simple build and I learned while assembling it that you could actually do a weapon swap pretty easy. Neither the Multi-melta or the Onslaught cannon share bits. As long as you don’t glue the gun down or the arms of the gunner (you don’t need to thanks to pegs) you can pretty easily weapon swap without magnets! It’s a good kit from a technical standpoint.

Primaris Chaplain on Bike

We finally have a new Chaplain on Bike. I think this is another one of those kits that is neat but doesn’t exactly shake things up. It’s a good kit, don’t misunderstand – but it’s also kind of expected at this point. GW has done such a great job with their plastics that they have set the bar pretty high for themselves. This kit has a ton of great details and there are two head options. I also like the chest-plate on the Chaplain himself. The bike is essentially an Outrider bike but with some new Chaplain-flair.

I didn’t get a chance to finish the build for the video but have sense finished it and it goes together super easy. Not much else to say! It’s a good kit and a relatively simple and fast build. Oh – I also appreciated the basing on this one. It’s just a little something extra to make him stand out from the rest of your new Primaris Bikers.

Primaris Firestrike Servo-turret

I really liked this model once I got a chance to actually build it. The Firestirke is a Primaris Mounted weapon and it looks like a very defensive setup – because it is. We haven’t really seen the Marines have this type of a turret before. Sure, we’ve have the Thunderfire cannon – but this has less of an “operator” and more of a “gunner” Technmarine now. Plus, it doesn’t really look like it can move where as the Thunderfire cannon does have tracks. Anyways, I thought this was a neat concept and it was executed well.

As for the model and building the barrels don’t technically share any bits. But can you magnetize the model in a way to swap guns? Probably! There is a slight hiccup however. Behind the shield there are two bits that change depending on which weapon you’re using – either the ammo drums for the Autocannon or battery packs for the Las-talon:

If you wanted to leave those off or magnetize them for to swap them, I mean, I guess you could. I’m not a wiz with magnets but I’m sure once this model hits shelves there will be a tutorial out there on how to do it. I just don’t have the magnets or really the desire to try to figure it out myself. I think this is a cool weapon emplacement and I think the Auto-cannon just looks better. But hey, YMMV.

All three of these kits are currently up for pre-order and will be in stores this weekend. Pick them up and take a look for yourself.
