Let’s hope the Space Wolves’ Sons of Morkai are only the beginning. Here’s what the Deathwatch, Blood Angels, and Dark Angels need.

The Space Wolves are getting a new unique unit in their upcoming Supplemental codex. The Sons of Morkai are a cool flavorful unit based on a Primaris kit with some rules and some minor bits swapped out. It’s a great idea that adds texture to the Chapter and helps to differentiate the Primaris units.

We hope to see GW embrace this idea and make more Primaris-based unique Chapter units. This is what we would do:

Blood Angels

Primaris Sanguinary Guard

It’s time for the angelic host to descent from the heavens with Primaris hearts aflame! I would make this kit based on the Inceptors, with blinged-out pauldrons, wing bits for their packs, the deathmask helmets, and those swords & axes Encarmine. What an awesome kit that would be!

Baal Gladiator

How easy would this be? You take the Gladiator Reaper (which to be honest is most of the way there) and add the Heavy Flamer options and a special rule or two. Done. To be jerks, the Blood Angel Primaris Techmarines can also not share the plans for this baby with Cawl.

Dark Angels

Ravenwing Black Knight Outriders

A simple one, just adding a sprue of bike and rider accessory bits to the Outriders. I’m assuming the standard unit will be used for normal Ravenwing Outriders, so of course, they need an elite unit to lead them. A single small sprue to update the unit’s three bikes should be child’s play.

Ravenwing Primaris Talonmaster

So here’s the deal with this one. Take a Stormspeeder Hailstrike and add the bit for the open book on the hood, and the head and sword-arm for the officer. Base the rules on the old Land Speeder Talonmaster and go to town. Now you can have a fluffy and awesome all Primaris Ravenwing.

Deathwatch

Primaris Watchmaster

The Deathwatch need a unique Primaris HQ to call their own and the Watchmaster is the obvious choice. With this being a single model, GW might as well make a new clampack mini for the guy, but I guess in a pinch, the existing Deathwatch accessory sprue can be mixed with a couple of the Primaris Captains to make this one come together. You just need the spear, go ask the Custodes…politely.

Corvus Blackstar

Boy does the Blackstar need help. I really, really hate to see a unique and cool looking kit held back by rules. As it is already a unique unit for the Army, I would suggest “crossing the streams”  and making the Corvus the only transport in the game able to carry both classic OR Primaris marines. The vehicle is already unusual, with its ability to haul bikers, so I say – let those newcomers jump on in there and kick some xenos butt!

Other First Founding Chapters?

There’s an entire world of existing codexes and the Legion unique units from 30K to use as inspiration. It would be really, really easy for GW to come up with lots of unique Primaris units for all the first Founding chapters if they wanted to. The question my dear friends – is do you want them to?

~What unique units do you think other First Founding chapters could use? Write up your ideas in the comments.
