Age of Sigmar: Shadow & Pain Unboxed

3 Minute Read
Nov 8 2020

What’s in the box? Pain. And Shadow. I’m not sure how Shadow fits in there but come take a look to find out.

This ain’t Morathi’s Gom Jabbar Test of Humanity. It’s a brand new combo box from Games Workshop and it’s packed with miniatures!

The Shadow Knows

So what’s in the box? Well if you haven’t seen the pictures yet – it’s a lot of plastic!

You’ll basically get two starter armies for both the Daughters of Khaine and the Hedonites of Slaanesh. While we’ve seen just about all these models before there are two brand new ones included in the box:

The Daughters of Khaine’s new Hero is the Melusai Ironscale and she’s pretty mean!

Her command ability Wrath of the Scathborn allows for her to allow 1 friendly Melusai unit to run and shoot/charge later that turn. They can also run 2d6 instead of d6 which will help for those long distance charges.

As for the Lord of Pain, he’s also kinda mean:

He’s not quite as flashy as the Ironscale, but he hits like a truck! With 5 attacks that are 3+/3+ with -1 Rend and 2 damage each, that’s not a profile to sneeze at! Plus he can return wounds to his attackers and can grain re-rolls to hit with his command ability.

As for the rest of the models in the box, you get a TON of good units for both sides of the coin. The DoK half has three units that can be built in different ways. While the Slaaneshi followers have a slightly less build options, you get a bunch of their models.

There are also a bunch of extras in the box including updated Warscrolls for the units as well as Battalions so you can field the included models as a single fighting force. If you’re curious about a Pricing Breakdown you can check that out here. But it’s one heck of a deal from Games Workshop. If you’re interested in either army you really can’t go wrong with picking up this box.
