D&D: Group Patrons In Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything

2 Minute Read
Nov 7 2020

Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything brings Group Patrons out of Eberron and into the Forgotten Realms. Come and find out who’s the boss of your D&D party.

One last bit of Tasha’s Cauldron previews to jump start your weekend. Check out Group Patrons, updated for Faerun and spotted over at io9. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, group patrons, first introduced in Eberron: Rising from the Last War, are a way to have your party work under the employ of a specific NPC or organization, like a noble lord or a crime syndicate (same thing, basically). These patrons offer your party specific benefits, outlined in their individual entries, and at the same time they might provide you with different missions or ask that you complete certain tasks for them.

Really what it means is having a good set of guidelines to help steer in your efforts to get your party to do things. Whether a table to turn to for types of crimes that you can commit, or a list of favors a noble can provide when you want to draw upon their considerable wealth, there’s some helpful information here. And we get a good look at all the different patrons within. From an elven noble:

…to Tasha Herself:

There are a lot of different patron examples here. And that’s all just barely scratching the surface of Group Patrons. Be sure and stay tuned for more previews from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything. In the meantime, what do you think of these Group Patrons? Are you looking forward to working with a group patron, or do you think your adventuring party is all about marching to the beat of their own drum?

Let us know in the comments–what sorts of group patrons do you already ise?

Happy Adventuring!
