What’s changed for the Astartes and the Necron Dynasties? Come take a look at their new FAQs!

Games Workshop has put out the latest batch of FAQs for the Space Marines, Necrons, and Black Templars. Are there any massive meta-shifting changes? Will you have to re-work your entire army? Well…probably not – but take a look anyhow.

Necrons FAQ

The Necron FAQ is pretty short and sweet. It does answer one question about C’tan Powers which probably needed to be clarified. And it cleans up some of the language for a few other rules…but that’s about it.

Space Marine FAQ

The Space Marine FAQ is also fairly short. There is the Designers note about replacing rules from Psychic Awakening: Faith and Fury (more on that below). And also we do get some points adjustments which were needed for clarification. The Apothecary also the his keywords fixed so that’s nice. GW also clarified how Heavy intercessor Squad weapon options were supposed to work.

Now we just need these models…

Black Templars FAQ

As for the Black Templars…well, they actually DID get a massive overhaul. It’s an 11 page update. So comparatively it’s MUCH larger. What does it include? Take a look:

They basically got the mini-codex treatment here. Why the big shifts? I’ll let GW explain:

Basically what’s going on is that GW is moving away from the rules that were in Psychic Awakening: Faith and Fury. However, they still wanted the Black Templars to keep the their specific rules. So, this new FAQ is here to carry over what’s staying, tweak what was an error, and allow Black Templars to continue to be played on the tabletop in Warhammer 40k 9th Edition.

Still no Primaris version of the Emperor’s Champion…

One other positive about this FAQ is that you’ll get access to Black Templar Datasheets and points values. Time to load-up on Crusader Squads – they did get those generic Space Marine buffs.

2 Wounds and Astartes Chainswords. That’s at least a step in the right direction.

Overall – not too many massive changes unless you’re playing Black Templars. In which case your rules from Faith and Fury are kind of the same. So, congrats?
