In the latest installment of the Broken Realms shorts, it sounds like Destruction is about to go on the attack.

The Broken Realms Saga has been ramping up. We did a recap of the key events with Broken Realms: Morathi and Games Workshop has been releasing steady new shorts to read for the saga. In the latest one, it appears that the forces of Destructions are tired of fighting amongst themselves and finally have someone – or something – to rally behind.

We’re going straight in to spoiler territory on this one. This is your only warning.

Still here? Good. Let’s dive in!

I’d recommend reading the story directly from GW. You can do that at the link below:

IN THE DEEP DARK MOUNTAIN

What we have going on at first is three Mega-Gargants hanging out in a cave. They were attempting to recover a bit from their injuries after dealing with some “goldies” which we can safely assume was some Stormcast Eternals. They’ve hold-up in what they think is a safe spot. Apparently “the light of the Bad Moon” was in the area and things were getting a bit riled-up.

As they debate the merits of their plan to “rest” vs “hide” – they hear some noises. Those noises turn out to be booms. Those booms are coming from Cannons. And you know who’s got cannons? Ogors.

The find themselves trapped in an Ogor assault. Because it turns out the cave might not have been entirely empty. There is a short skirmish, more explosions and cannon fire. An Ogor or two gets stepped on. But then…

Another explosion. This time Slorgo went down. They all did.

The cave entrance, a moment ago blocked by the Mega-Gargants’ thick wall of basalt slabs and boulders, yawned wide. Pushing through it was a huge, horned bull-skull, so big it would have taken all three of the Brothers Murgg to lift it, mounted on a colossal battering ram. Slorgo could just about pick out the teams of troggoths and gargants that had pushed it into position through the dust of pulverised rock. And there, standing atop the thing, was the King of the Orruks.

Gordrakk. Even Slorgo knew his name.”

And Gordrakk isn’t there to eat the Mega-Gargants. He’s there to recruit them. And not just them. The Ogors, too!

” ‘Enuff o’ that bloody racket!’ boomed the orruk king. ‘Enuff mukkin’ about wiv mountains and dusty old vaults! We got a proper fight lined up, in the open this time! You lot!’ – at this, he waved one of his toothy axes, a gesture that took in not only the Murggs but also the cave-dwelling ogors that stood stupefied in awe – ‘And I mean all of ya! You’re comin’ wiv me! We’re heading east, lads. Got a city ta smash! Waaagh!’

The Ogors cheer and sling their weapons. And even the Mega-Gargants appear to cease their hostilities and get wrapped-up in the moment. That’s the power of the WAAAGH!!! and they feel in in their bones:

Slorgo felt a strange and vital energy buzzing in his veins. Standing up to his full height, he could see a sea of greenskins that stretched to the limits of his vision. He smiled, cold mountain air whistling through his missing teeth, and then laughed, high on the thought of crushing an entire city under his stomping feet.

Gordrakk know how to recruit to his army. Destruction is on the warpath and their first target is probably that pesky human city the three Mega-Gargants were having some issues with…
