Warhammer 40K

Exciting news for all you Black Library collector’s out there. GW is showing off some gorgeous new Limited Edition volumes coming soon.

Nothing about 40K is understated. From the over-the-top action and peril that permeates the galaxy in the 42nd Milennium, to the larger-than-life models that are the capstone for any army that’s combat ready in the grim darkness of the distant future, 40K is big, bold, and dynamic. The most understated models are often depicted, ground to the dust beneath the feet of triumphant warriors, which should tell you GW’s attitude to the plain.

So it is with their books as well, as we’ll see here with a preview of four new limited edition books that highlight just how gorgeous a new Black Library release can be. Each of these will be eyecatching on your shelves. If you want a bookshelf that screams out in gothic futurism, this is the way to go. Check ’em out.

Mortis

Book 5 in the Siege of Terra series is landing planetside very soon, featuring the now-iconic styling of the rest of the novels. A leather-effect, ribbed spine, and embedded metal centrepiece are all included, while the gilt page edges and ribbon bookmark complete the handsome presentation.

Inside this tome, you’ll find pages of full-colour art, including a map of one of the book’s most important settings, as well as John French’s signature and the all-important number from one to 2,500 – cross your fingers for a low one.

Alpharius: Head of the Hydra

This limited edition of the latest book in The Horus Heresy: Primarchs series is looking swish with a cloth spine and a ribbon bookmark. If you prefer to keep your secrets locked up, as befitting the most enigmatic of the Legions, the magnetic black slipcase bearing the Alpha Legion’s icon has you covered.

There are only 2,500 copies available, so don’t just lurk in the shadows – be prepared to strike if you want it.

The Gate Of Bones

The second entry in Warhammer 40,000’s flagship Dawn of Fire series gets the premium treatment with leather-effect binding, including a metallic icon on the front, and a classy ribbon bookmark. You’ll find the full cover art inside, along with two bonus character portraits.

This edition is very limited, with just 2,000 individually-numbered copies, each one signed by Andy Clark himself – just imagine the hand cramps. You’ll also find a bonus short story inside – ‘Sanctuary and Sacrifice’.

Ravenor Returned

Our informants within the Inquisition slipped us an early look at something coming in March and we just had to share it with you. The second book in the beloved Ravenor trilogy, Ravenor Returned, is getting the limited edition treatment. It features stunning cover art to match the limited edition of Ravenor, plus a new introduction by Dan Abnett, individual numbering from 1 to just 1,250 (set a reminder now if you want to secure one for yourself), and an autograph from the man himself.

What do you think of the new editions? Which one will you be adding to your shelves?
