Star Wars: Everything We Know About The Bad Batch
Disney announced yesterday that The Bad Batch was slated for a May 4th release, but what else do we know so far about the next streaming Star Wars series?
Fans of previous animated shows, The Clone Wars and Rebels rejoiced a few months back when it was announced that some of their favorite off-brand clones would be back with original streaming series, The Bad Batch.
We still don’t know a ton, but trickles of information have been coming out, including a tweet yesterday from the official Star Wars Twitter announcing that May the Fourth would be with us all for a Bad Batch premiere on Star Wars Day.

May 4th premiere dates aren’t terribly unexpected from Lucasfilm, who seems to lean a little harder into their fandom and fan engagement than some other studios, but it’s always so satisfying to see.
So far we know the show will premier on the 4th on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+ with a second episode releasing on the 7th and then weekly Friday releases after that. We also know that the creative and production teams includes Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, Brad Rau, Jennifer Corbett, Carrie Beck, and Josh Rimes, all of whom you may recognize from previous Star Wars hits like The Mandalorian, Rebels, The Clone Wars, and Resistance. All in all, The Bad Batch has all of the DNA for a successful and thoroughly enjoyable addition to the Star Wars animated library.
If you’re not familiar with these characters The Bad Batch or Clone Force 99 are a group of elite and experimental clone troopers who are a little more “unique” than your average clone. Each is a little varied on a genetic level and exceptionally advanced at one niche skill each, making them something of a special ops of the clone world. Crosshair has genetically advanced eyesight making him the team’s marksman and sniper, Wrecker is much larger and stronger than his clone brothers, Tech is a genius with a mastery of all things technological, Hunter is their leader with the ability to feel electromagnetic signals, and Echo joined them after the Battle of Anaxes with the ability to be the most loyal and brave and one of everyone’s top five favorite clones.
The Bad Batch will follow Clone Force 99 immediately after the Clone Wars as they make their way through a rapidly changing galaxy and deal with the aftermath and fallout from the Clone Wars and the major changes the galaxy will begin going through. I’m expecting at least one or two storylines to pull at our collective heartstrings in a great action – adventure series that covers pieces of the Star Wars lore that we can only really experience through the eyes of a clone trooper and a time period that’s often glossed over.
If you’re behind on the Star Wars streaming and animated offerings, you have two months to catch up on all of the sad clone backstories The Clone Wars has to offer before first episode of The Bad Batch drops on May 4th of this year.
