We’ve got another Broken Realms book coming – but this one is more of a Mystery…or is it? Let’s take a closer look at Kragnos!

Games Workshop dropped a pretty big teaser for the next chapter in Broken Realms. We got a shot of someone we can only assume is Kragnos who is a new figure in Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Take a look at the teaser:

Not much to go on…or is it? That art work is 1) awesome and 2) full of clues. The video itself also mentions that this person was trapped “in the mountain” and then they escaped to find that their people were gone. So let’s break that all down.

Artwork Clues

My first inclination was “Oh could this be a Dragon Ogor champion of some type?” But after comparing them…

There are some BIG differences there. No, this model is much closer to these models…

Antlers? Check. Horse-body? Check. Shield and wild hair? Double check! Are we looking at some type of Kurnothi? I think so. In fact, that kind of brings us back full circle. The Kurnothi were first revealed with Skaeth’s Wild Hunt which was a part of the Beastgrave box from Warhammer Underworlds. And that setting was set…in a mountain. A living Mountain. That same mountain was from the Realm of Ghur (the realm of Beasts).

Now, if you’ve been keeping up with the story line of Warhammer Underworlds, then you know that Chaos is trying to corrupt the mountain to awaken it so it goes on a ravenous buffet eating spree (or something). And the Seraphon are looking to stop it. Conveniently, they are getting a warband this weekend, too.

They have a device that will stop the chaos plot from coming to fruition. What else will happen and will they succeed? We don’t know yet. But Kragnos was buried in a mountain and if the Seraphon stop the living mountain and everything trapped inside can get out…

Look –  I know it’s a wild theory but it makes sense at least with the current happenings within Age of Sigmar and Warhammer Underworlds. It’s a giant meta plot that connects everything and it’s pretty cool! But now the OTHER wild theory I have for you is: Who is Kragnos?

I’m just going to go ahead and say it: I think it will be Orion reborn. Why? Well, Ghur’s symbol of magic and the realm is The Arrow of the Hunt. Who was the lord of the Wild Hunt? Orion. During the End Times Orion was slain by Trion (long story). He wielded the Spear of Kurnoth which is where we get the Kurnoth Hunters from (again, long story). The Kurnothi Warband is also a part of that line.

So, again, theorizing here, what if Orion’s soul was strong enough to make the jump from the Old World to the Mortal Realms but he was hidden inside the Realm of Ghur – inside the Beastgrave? And after all the shenanigans and goings-on, he’s been reborn and finally freed? Are we going to have yet another branch of elves reborn?  (c’mon new Wood Elves!!!!) It’s a long shot – but remember that Orion and Alarielle go WAAAY back. So if nothing else, we might see some expansion to the Sylvaneth Roster.

I’m heading back to the mail room to hang up some more papers, pictures, and red threads. But what do you think?

Got a crazy theory of who Kragnos will be? Let us know in the comments!
