One of the things that I always keep my eye on is wargame terrain. You can use terrain from GameCraft for pretty much any game your imagination lets you.

In this post, we take a look at a 28mm Guard Tower by GameCraft Miniatures. This 28mm tower, towers over your miniatures. It is actually just over 10-inches tall!!! With that height, anyone you put up there will have a great view of the battlefield.

Now, GameCraft Miniatures sells this tower in three sizes. 15mm, 20mm, and 28mm. Again, today we are looking at the 28mm version. To give you a sense of scale, I added 28mm Bolt Action miniatures to many of the pictures. Speaking of Bolt Action, GameCraft sells that too. Now, let’s get into it!

Building the Tower

This tower comes shrink-wrapped in its own little package. You are going to need some of your favorite Wood Glue (or PVA Glue) for this project. I personally like to water down the glue and use a brush while I build.

This kit was extremely intuitive to build. No Instructions needed.

Put some glue on and lay down the pieces.

I personally like to use elastics while the glue dries, but you don’t have to. Oh, that lamp I am using. It is a GameCraft Miniatures LED Workbench Light. This lamp is great. It has also been selling so well that GameCraft had to hire a new employee to keep up with demand! Check out the review for more on this awesome light.

Overall, this is a very simple and straightforward terrain kit to build. Now, let’s see how it looks on the table.

Shots of the Tower in Bolt Action

Really, you could use this Guard Tower terrain kit for many games. Last Days, Vietnam, and Modern games come immediately to mind. I bought it specifically for my Bolt Action collection though.

This tower towers over the miniatures around it!

From a higher angle, you can see I tossed a five-man squad in there. They fit in very comfortably.

How far up are those miniatures in the tower again?

From ground to the height of the miniatures, you are looking at 7.5 to 8-inches. To the roof of the Guard Tower, it is a full 10-inches! Maybe more. That is a long way down, or roughly 10 times the height of a miniature!

At that height, it will take the enemies a while to reach the guys in the tower.

Wrapping it up…

Overall, this is a great piece of MDF terrain. Price-wise, you are looking at a good deal too. Roughly $18 for a made-in-America product that goes together all so easily. With my build, there was no trimming required and it was very intuitive to build. There was no puzzling out how to put this thing together. For those wondering, I took the pictures above on a Cigar Box Battle Mat. They have got to be one of my favorite gaming mat companies and their fabric mats work great as photo backdrops and as gaming mats. Oh ya, GameCraft Miniatures sells these mats too.

Special thanks goes out to GameCraft Miniatures for sending me this product for review. If you want to see more scenery reviews, check out the terrain section on my personal site.

Until next time, Happy Gaming Everyone!!!
