Previews for Strixhaven officially begin “soon” but when you’re the head designer for Magic: the Gathering, you can jump the gun whenever you want.

Strixhaven, the new set for Magic: the Gathering that takes everyone to school–magic school that is. As one of the most powerful magic academies in the planes, Strixhaven is home to five colleges that combine opposing colors in interesting ways. And as the release day dawns, Mark Rosewater has a teaser sampler platter. Just some appetizers, really. But it’s enough to give you a partial glimpse at what’s coming.

Before previews for Strixhaven officially begin, I thought it would be fun to do another of my Duelist-style teasers where I give tiny hints of things to come. Note that I’m only giving you partial information.

That’s the “warning” just to give you the context, these spoilers aren’t like the ones you might be used to. But let’s see what’s in store:

All of this sounds fairly exciting, especially a sorcery that you can have as many of as you need in your deck. And a new evergreen keyword too, there’s a lot to look forward to.

Study counters, a futureshifted card, and a card sharing something never shared before–can’t wait to see what these turn out to be. One last bit of rules spoilers.

That’s the end of the road for new rules text. But there are still plenty of creatures in store:

Creature – Turtle Druid

• Creature – Bird Warlock

• Creature – Frog Wizard

• Creature – Spirit Dwarf

• Creature – Troll Druid

• Creature – Eye Bat

• Legendary Creature – Vampire Warlock

• Legendary Creature – Orc Shaman

• Legendary Creature – Dryad Druid

• Legendary Artifact Creature – Construct

Curious about what all of these are? You’ll get to see the answers to at least a few of these clues during the official Strixhaven launch event, coming March 25th.

Get ready to be schooled.
