Broken Realms: Be’lakor is updating more than just Be’lakor with a new model. Come take a look at some of updates to other units!

We already got a look at part of the Table of Contents and now we’re getting a deeper dive into the rules for Broken Realms: Be’lakor. Some long-suffering units are getting updates and we’re also getting a new look at the newer units, too. Let’s dive right in.

Dreadscythe Harridans

To start, this unit is getting a big upgrade thanks to the new Sworrowmourn Choir Warscroll. But that’s just part of it. One in every five can be upgraded to a Slasher Crone now instead of just one per unit. This is a great excuse to start running larger blocks of them in the army. Plus, their Harrowing Shriek got a boost, too:

Furthermore, their Murderous Bloodlust ability now triggers on hit rolls instead of wound rolls. That should net you more activations in general:

Krulghast Cruciator

We get a look at how this new hero will help out the Nighthaunt. They have a new ability called Empowering Excruciation that really does help your Nighthaunt forces stick around even longer:

That bump to a 5+ will keep your ghostly warriors around a whole lot longer than their 6+ version. Now the tricky part will be getting it to activate…

Gardus Steel Soul

And speaking of new Heroes, we also have a look at the abilities of the new Stormcast Eternal character. If you’re running more Hallowed Knights, they are ALSO going to be a lot tougher to dislodge.

Not only does Gardus have a 5+ roll to negate wounds or mortal wounds, he also confers that same benefit to other Hallowed Knights wholly within 12″ which is always appreciated.

Doomseeker

Ahhh classic Doomseekers. They are getting a nice boost to their weapon skills, specifically their axe-throwing skills. Check out their updated profile:

They also have an updated Oathbound ability as well. They sure have been hitting the gym AND the books, too. They sure have learned a few tricks.

Grimwrath Berzerker

The Grimwrath Berzerkers are also getting the same change to their throwing axes which is appreciated. On top of that, they are also getting new Grimwrath Oaths they can take. There are six in total, but GW is only teasing three of them…for now:

Be’lakor, the Dark Master

Oh you didn’t think we wouldn’t get to Be’lakor himself, did you? First up, let’s take a look at his fancy new weapon profiles:

So just to compare, yes – this is a BIG change to his stats/damage table. Here’s the old one to compare:

Clearly he’s getting a lot more wounds to play with on top of the number of attacks/weapon profiles he’s got. Oh – and don’t forget the tweak to Dark Master ability on top of those changes:

Ugh…This ability is going to be ROUGH. GW fiddled with how the rule works mechanically, but in reality, it’s actually (somehow) even meaner. I’ll be honest, I was REALLY hoping GW would completely rework this ability as it essentially shuts down a unit for a turn. I’m not a fan of NOT getting to play with my toys and Be’lakor’s Dark Master ability does just that. I have a feeling that he is going to show up in Chaos lists a lot more frequently now as he’s a fantastic counter to …pretty much anything for a round.
