There is a new Ossiarch Bonereaper Warband and they have some new Age of Sigmar Rules you can use!

If there was a time that GW was tipping their hand about a future release, I think this might be one of those times. Kainan’s Reapers is the new warband coming to Age of Sigmar. As part of that release, they also have rules for use in your standard games of Age of Sigmar, too. Let’s take a closer look at those.

via Games Workshop

Mir Kainan

To start off, while he might look like a regular Soulreaper, Mir Kainan is quite literally bigger and tougher than a Mortisan Soulreaper. He’s got more attacks and a better Rend – but he only has a 1″ range (which is kind of odd). He’s also wielding a Soulreaper AXE vs a standard Soulreaper Scythe. Furthermore, his axe has different rules – it trades out the re-roll to hit for a straight up D3+1 mortal wound swipe on 6s. Not bad at all. Unfortunately, even though he’s technically still a wizard, he did lose out on the Soulreaper’s standard Soul-blast spell, too.

The Morteks

Alright, this is where things get a bit more interesting. First up, take note of all the DIFFERENT Nadirite weapons. We’ve got blades, halberds, clubs and daggers with profiles now. Oh – and a freakin’ BOW. ALL of these weapons have the Nadirite Weapon ability, too. Which means you can have bow fire from Morteks that get double hits on 6s. That’s an exciting prospect for us OBR players. I’m also glad to see things like that Halberd with it’s +3/+3 stat line and 2″ range! The club has that extra rend for a -2 as well.

Why is this such a big deal? Well, it’s basically a prototype for future Ossiarch Bonereaper units. I can already imagine a unit of 10 Mortek’s with bows who get hit with the Leige Kavalos’ Endless Duty ability and get 2 shots per trooper. It might not sound like much, but with this army’s ability to generate hits, I’d like to see what they could do! I’m also looking forward to more weapon options besides just Swords and Spears. The halberds and club options would be a welcome change.  We’ll have to see if these pan out for the future, but I sure hope so!

Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm – Kainan’s Reapers

When Nagash resolved to conquer Ghur, Kainan’s Reapers were amongst the first forces he despatched, the tithekeepers sent to call in ancient debts and claim osseous stockpiles that might be used to bolster the Bonereapers’ advance. The Mortisan Executioner Mir Kainan was charged with collecting the long-overdue tithe of the Silent People. When they arrived in Beastgrave, Kainan’s Reapers found the Silent People had fled, their regular migration cycle interrupted by the mountain’s anguished raging. They did not intend to return empty-handed, however. Direchasm’s depths held countless ancient bones, and many rival warbands would pay the price for the Silent People’s delinquency.

Bringing hitting power, magic, and disposable bone constructs to the living mountain, Kainan’s Reapers are an incredibly flexible warband. Emphasise your preferred play style through the use of a range of warband-specific and universal cards, and their new tithe mechanic will help you inspire your warband. This set also features universal cards for any warband in Warhammer Underworlds, while a free downloadable warscroll lets you fight with Kainan’s Reapers in Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
