Warhammer 40,000 has a lot of armies and some of those armies need more help than others in 9th edition.

After our Codex Check-In a few days ago, here at BoLS we starting wondering which codexes could use an update after the next round (eventually) gets here. Honestly, we’ll take any codexes for 9th edition in any order. Folks just want the new rules and we can’t blame them! That said, here are a few codexes we hope GW has plans for (and maybe some more models, too).

Chaos Space Marines

Do we even need to explain this one? After a year of Imperial power armor updates, when are the traitors going to get a new book? There’s lots of little things they need and are we going to see Chaos Space Marine Supplements for their various sub-factions and armies? C’mon GW…we need a little chaos marine action!

T’au Empire

Do the T’au have it rough right now? I know it’s hard for some to have some sympathy for them after their shenanigan’s in 8th, but a new codex could “fix” a lot of the gimmicks and make the T’au Empire a worthy foe once again. I’m not saying to make the busted – but just make them compete! Every time a new codex is issued there’s always the chance at redemption…for the greater good.

Genestealer Cults

The Genestealer Cults are one of the most unique and tactically challenging armies to play in 40k. They could really benefit from a new book for 9th. They have a great model range with a ton of newer kits – it’s just a shame their book is showing its age and it’s for it to be competitive. Maybe in the new book GW could give them some teeth (and claws) back to their lists.

Astra Militarum

The Guard are the anvil to the Space Marine hammer. They are the bedrock of the Imperium and while Space Marine get all the glory the Astra Militarum are charged with holding that line and cleaning-up the messes. That’s why after all those power armor books, it’s time for the Guard to get issued some new gear – at least in the form of a new codex.

Space Marines

…We just figured that by the time all those other books come out it would be time for a new Space Marine book again.

Bonus: Everyone ANYONE else

Here – take your pick:

  • Adeptus Custodes
  • Imperial Knights
  • Inquisition (and subfactions)
  • Chaos Daemons
  • Chaos Knights
  • Craftworld Aeldari
  • Harlequins
  • Tyranids
  • Ynnari

Seriously, we’ll take any and all the codexes GW can muster for 9th.
