Comic-Con was @home this year, but that means virtual panels for one and all to enjoy. Mark Rosewater gave a talk about Adventures in Forgotten Realms.

Do you want to know what goes on behind-the-scenes in the development of a Magic: the Gathering set? Check out what went into the making of Adventures in the Forgotten Realm from the man himself, Mark Rosewater. Rosewater gave a talk at Comic-Con @Home this past weekend, which you can view right here:

Head designer Mark Rosewater talks with Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms lead designer, Jules Robins, to hear behind-the-scenes stories about the making of Magic: The Gathering’s first Dungeons & Dragons-themed set.

In it you’ll get a glimpse of what goes into designing the mechanics of the set. One of the most interesting tidbits is the early development cycle of the set, where they showed a handful of cards off, ranging from things like Magic Missile to more weird cards that referenced rulebooks to try and hone in on the sweet spot where both D&D and Magic overlap.

It was apparently a sizable Venn diagram, which seems obvious in hindsight, but they really do capture the feeling of D&D in the cards. It’s quickly becoming our favorite set here at BoLS.

What do you think of the panel?
