Age of Sigmar: Idoneth Deepkin Spearhead Pricing Breakdown
The Idoneth Deepkin are on deck for a new Spearhead box for Age of Sigmar. Is this one going to be a treasure from the deep?
With the arrival of the ethersea we’ve got a new Spearhead box washing up on our shores. The Idoneth Deepkin are coming to hunt souls. However, I’m a tad more concerned about how my wallet will handle them. We know the current price point of Spearhead boxes is $145. So how will this new boxed set stack up in terms of a deal? Let’s find out!

So is this one a good deal? The math checks out! But there’s one other thing I’d like to point out. Every kit in this set with the exception of the Namarti Reavers is a dual kit. The Ishalaen/Marrarr Guard are the same kit — just built differently. And the Akhelian King can also be built as Volturnos, High King of the Deep.
I mention that because it’s a factor in deciding if this is just a good one off deal or if you should get more than one. If I were starting an Idoneth Deepkin army I’d think this one was a solid deal all the way around and opt for two boxes. That said, it does peg you into a Akhelian Guard heavy build. You’ll have to decide for yourself if that’s something you want to do.
Unfortunately, with the new battletome right around the corner, it’s all up in the air right now. Or maybe it’s all underwater…but the metaphor is not the point. The good news is that with this box being a Spearhead, it should still be around as the edition chugs along. So you don’t have to buy two immediately.
I’d recommend getting the Battletome first, checking the army build you want to run, and see if that lines up with the units you can build from two of the Spearhead boxes. That or just get one and play Spearhead to see if you even like how it plays!
