This week’s Kickstarter roundup includes an RPG that will help you learn ASL and BSL, cooperative mech fights in space, and much more!

Underisles

UNDERISLES is the final tabletop RPG in a groundbreaking trilogy that teaches players American and British sign language! The games were created in collaboration with the Deaf community and are accessible to beginners and players of any age. Building on the success of our previous games, UNDERISLES continues to promote empathy, cooperation and Deaf awareness.

In the games, you play Pendragons, the teen descendants of Arthur and Guinevere. To fulfil an ancient pact with the fey, you must travel to the Isles, a mythical version of Great Britain and Ireland. You will work together to earn Belief, prevent the spread of Disbelief, and learn the elemental art of Shaping, which teaches sign language!

On a personal note, my son was born hard of hearing and I’ve been learning ASL for a little more than the last year. So while many games I post here are ones that I think you guys would enjoy, this is one that I personally immediately and enthusiastically backed. There’s never a bad time to learn a new language, and this game looks like such a fun way to learn, practice, and use a little more ASL or BSL.

Does D&D need pin-up monsters? No. But that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be an artful and fun addition to your next adventure! If your group is looking for something a little more adult that adds a lot of entertainment, some Pinup Monster Girls are ready to meet (and attack) your party!

Dungeon Tryouts

Dungeon Tryouts is the ultimate party game of fantasy misadventure!

It combines the hilarious chaos of a D&D session going off the the rails with the fast, fun, anyone-can-play format of a party game.

The premise? You run an adventuring agency where you try to find quests for wannabe adventurers. The problem? The heroes in your roster all have quirks that make them hard to hire. They aren’t exactly the cream of the crop–and neither are the gigs you have for them.

It’s your job to pitch your hopeful heroes at quest auditions, spinning their weaknesses as strengths in the hopes of scoring them the job. In the tradition of adventure fantasy, you’ll need to use your imagination.

It’s like D&D meets Apples to Apples meets Whose Line Is It Anyway?, except even non-D&D players and introverts can enjoy the game.

– Kickstarter

Ever wonder how an adventuring party comes together? Did they happen to meet in a dungeon or at t he tavern? Was there an audition process? Were they really the best of the best, or just the couple that actually showed up? Dungeon Tryouts lets you go through that exact audition process. And in this dungeon, we get what we get.

Flip Voyage

Flip Voyage takes players on a voyage through the fantastical world of Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. In the game, Captain Nemo has set forth a challenge to his most prized crew members, you among them. Earn the most notoriety and you will inherit his great legacy!

In the game, each player takes command of their own bare-bones replica of the infamous Nautilus submarine, exploring a map filled with dangers and rewards. Each turn, you will flip over three cards, assigning one to determine your movement, one to engage in a specific discipline and one to take action in that discipline.

Take your own adventure 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and be the best crew member Captain Nemo has ever seen! You’ll be finding treasure and deep-sea terrors in no time. Hopefully more treasure than terrors, but I guess you’ll have to get exploring to know for sure.

ExoTerra

ExoTerra is a cooperative campaign game where 1-4 players pilot massive mechs called Jackets, battle cunning enemy pilots, and fight for their place in a new solar system. The freedom of deep deck customization and flexible paths to victory provide the perfect arena for brutal mech combat, as you follow the story of a group of Jacket pilots hailing from the frozen moon of Pelmont in an ongoing sci-fi campaign.

Customizing their Jackets and exploiting the weaknesses of rival pilots will give players an edge as they work towards the defeat of the sinister Vega Apex – the driving force behind the occupation of their home world and the struggle of their people. They must make choices on how to interact with the world around them as each decision has a lasting impact. Only the bravery of these few pilots can stop the impending doom of mankind.

– Kickstarter

We’re battling mechs in space for the fate of mankind. This is a game with a lot of flexibility and customization, where your choices can have a real impact on gameplay.
