We’re at a weird spot in releases from Games Workshop. The end of the road map is upon us. What’s coming next for Warhammer 40,000?

In case you missed the Big Summer Preview, there was a lot of Warhammer 40k news. We have the reinforcements for the Leagues of Votann coming soon as well as a bunch of Space Marine Characters on the way, too. Overall, it was cool set of reveals! And it checked off some of the mystery boxes we were waiting for as well.

If you look at the Road Map from Adepticon 2025, you can see the only thing that’s actually missing from that list is the Imperial Knights. We know there was some sort of delay and they got pushed back — so they are technically on the way still. But now we know why the Salamanders, Imperial Fists, and Leagues of Votann were teased (and revealed).

Now, might see some more Space Marines as GW did announce all those new characters along with Combat Patrols. But we didn’t see any signs of additional Codexes or Codex Supplements around. So I am curious to see how that will pan out. But other than that, we’ve come to the end of the road (map). So what’s next?

Looking For Clues – Who’s Still Missing A Codex

Back in June, I did a quick codex check-in to see who’s missing. Now that we’ve gotten to check off a few from our list thanks to the Big Summer Preview, let’s see who’s still left. We can do that via the Index Page from WarCom.

Now, we’ll just remove the ones that we know have codexes or have ones we know are on the way and we’re left with the following:

  • Chaos Daemons – Which we know aren’t getting new Codex
  • Drukhari

Yep. Still Drukhari. So what gives? I do wonder what the hold up is and I wonder about the timing, too. If you know the life cycle, of Warhammer 40k editions, then you know once we get to this point it’s time to start wondering if a new edition is waiting in the wings. Once the final codexes land it’s basically done. And if we look at the calendar, there’s not a lot of time left for “new” releases.

Time Marches On

August is here (tomorrow). We’ve still got at least a month or two worth of 40k releases thanks to all the new Leagues of Votann, Space Marines, and the delayed Imperial Knight Codex/release. That puts us into October. Maybe we’ll see the Drukhari then? Will they get some new characters/units. Or maybe some old returning ones? I don’t know if GW is planning on pulling out an update for the Ynnari either.

Who knows? GW has time to update the Drukhari before the November/December months hit and they focus on Holiday boxes and bundles. Not to mention their other systems are also getting big releases as well.

Perhaps we’re going to see a big new event start to spin up as well. A big galactic event with a Crusade or Battlezone book series could also help to extend the life of 10th edition. I don’t know about you, but this edition feels like it’s been flying by and it does feel too soon for a new edition in 2026. Maybe we’ll get a 10.5 update or something like that. I guess we’ll find out. There’s still lots of time left in 2025.

Do you think we’ll see Drukhari before the end of 2025?
