Horus Heresy: Mechanicum Combat Force Pricing Breakdown
It’s time for the Mechanicum to get their turn. A new Combat Force is on the way. We’re going inside to break this pricing down!
We already did this for the Legiones Astartes Combat Force and now we’re tackling the Mechanicum and their new Combat Force. Just to reiterate: we don’t know the final price point on these Combat Forces yet. We will have to wait to see what that turns out to be. That said, all of the contents have been announced and we can see the totals for that. So let’s bust out the napkin, do some math, and see if we can’t land on a price range.

Now, it’s worth noting that unlike the Astartes box, all of these are currently in stock and available from Games Workshop right now. It’s also worth pointing out that the total of the individual items is only $2.50 away from the Legiones Astartes Combat Force, too. That’s a strong indication that these boxes will end up being the same price point when they are officially released. Now, on to the estimated savings…
Estimated Savings For The Combat Force
Again, this is where things get a little more complicated. If you read the Legiones Astartes Breakdown than you know I used multiple price points to compare the savings. I’m not going to re-hash all of those same price points but here’s a quick look at the potential savings:
- Retail – $150 : Savings – $115
- Retail – $170 : Savings – $95
- Retail – $190 : Savings – $75
You get the idea. I’m expecting these boxes to come in around the $180 ballpark based on the Individual MSRP and the contents provided. Also comparing that with the 40k Combat Patrols that seems reasonable. But it would be a huge boon if GW did drop that price point lower. I said this in the outro of the previous breakdown: If these go on sale for $150 they will instantly sell out.
If you’ve been following these boxed sets from GW, the pattern is typically the discount covers the difference for one of these units included — of comes real close. So, again, I think that at $180 you’ve got that sweet spot for both the customer and GW. It’s discounting one of the $80 units and but you’re still paying $180 [insert “in this economy? joke here]. I know I like to focus on the deal we’re getting but that’s still a chunk of change for 9 miniatures. To be fair, they are rather large miniatures and are some of my favorites from the range…but the point still stands.
Anyhow, if the price point is reasonable this new Combat Force box for the Mechanicum will end up being a great snag. If you’ve been looking for a way to jump into the new edition of the Horus Heresy this is it. That’s especially true if you wanted to play Mechanicum. I think these Combat Forces are structured to be a box that buying two or three would cover your needs as a solid core for their respective army. Again, I’m awaiting the final price point but I’d keep an eye out for these in the future.
