Huge LEGO ‘Star Wars’ Starkiller Base Has Thousands of Pieces, Legion of Stormtrooper Minifigs
This massive LEGO Star Wars Starkiller Base diorama includes thousands of pieces, over 400 minifigs, TIE Fighters, and more.
In a single strike, the capital system of the New Republic was destroyed, and the First Order rose. And this terrifying weapon fired that shot.
One of the most powerful superweapons in Star Wars is the First Order’s Starkiller Base. Where other superweapons would destroy a planet, it was able to obliterate whole star systems. And at extremely long ranges, allowing the First Order to destroy their enemies from halfway across the galaxy.
It’s embedded in the equatorial trench created by kyber crystal mining on the planet Ilum, deep in the Unknown Regions. The weapon’s colossal superlaser array gets its power by harnessing Quintessence, the invisible, impossible-to-detect energy field that helps bind the universe together.
The First Order keeps a large base on the planet’s surface to operate the powerful weapon and house a massive army that can deploy to battles around the galaxy. It’s where General Armitage Hux, Kylo Ren, and Captain Phasma address a mass of troops in Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

The massive build is 23 feet long by 6 feet wide and took Richboy Jhae over two-and-a-half years to complete. While he doesn’t share exactly how many pieces are in the build, it’s clear that it took thousands to create. It includes more than 400 LEGO minifigures.
The build features numerous rows of unique custom ships, repositionable turbo lasers that can be, and landing bays with intricately designed slanted walls that were a considerable challenge to create. You’ll also find Hux’s command center room, Snoke’s hologram room, and even Captain Phasma trapped in a trash compactor.
There are also around 100 other amusing and Easter egg-filled vignettes depicting various scenes from the Starkiller Base and Star Wars lore.
The creator of this massive build gave a 360 tour of the assembled MOC while displaying it at Brick Rodeo in Dallas. If you want more detail, Richboy Jhae has posted several WIP videos you can check out here.

Rebel Against the First Order
None of the Sequel Trilogy specific sets are still being made, so if you want to build part of the attack on the Starkiller Base, you’ll have to make do with one of the most famous rebel ships – the X-Wing.
The Ultimate Collectors Series version has authentic brick-built details like an opening cockpit, a spot for R2-D2, and adjustable wings that can go from flight mode to attack mode with a turn of a switch. It makes an impressive display piece and comes complete with a stand and plaque showing X-Wing technical data.
This set is reportedly retiring this year, so snag it while you still can.
