Massive LEGO Black Pearl Set Reboots The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Theme
Jack Sparrow is back with a new, huge LEGO Black Pearl that’s over two feet tall and has nearly 3,000 pieces.
Disney World’s iconic ride opened in 1967, over 400 million riders have traveled through the world of swashbuckling pirates. It was my favorite ride as a kid. I convinced my dad to go on the ride at least a dozen times in our week-long visit. In 2003, it became a super successful film franchise with Johnny Depp’s eccentric Captain Jack Sparrow at its helm. There are currently five movies and another is in the works.
New LEGO Black Pearl
LEGO and Disney are calling this ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship’ but I think we all know what it really is.
It’s been over a decade since we’ve seen this ship. The last version was released in 2011 in conjunction with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and was significantly smaller, with only 804 pieces. This new set is over three times as large and was created with adult builders in mind.
The legendary ghost ship has soaring masts with torn black sails and a Misty Lady figurehead at its bow to guide it through tumultuous seas and protect its crew from bad luck. Turn the ship’s wheel to steer the rudder, rotate dials to deploy the port or starboard cannons, and open the deck to reveal the captain’s quarters with a dining table, candles, maps, and provisions. If you need to abandon ship, there’s a removable rowboat.

The over two-foot-tall ship can be displayed in the included angled cradle, or the hull can be split at the waterline to depict the ship in sailing mode. The set also includes Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Gibbs, Cotton, Anamaria, Marty, Elizabeth Swann, and Hector Barbossa minifigs.
