Star Wars: Shatterpoint ‘Outer Rim Outpost’ Terrain Pack Unboxed & Up Close
We got the new Star Wars: Shatterpoint Outer Rim Outpost Terrain Pack and we’re getting hands on with this kit.
Atomic Mass Games has been cranking out the Star Wars: Shatterpoint kits lately. We took a look at some of the folks from Rogue One recently. Now we’re heading to the Outer Rim with this new terrain pack. They sent a preview copy so we’re going to be diving into the contents with a good look at what we’re getting. So let’s do this thing!

My first impressions are that this is a large piece of terrain for your Star Wars: Shatterpoint Collection. This bunker looks like it’s going to have a big foot print. That’s not a bad thing. I also like the look of those crates stacked up. I kind of wish we’d get more of that cover/scatter terrain…but let’s get into the box.
Outer Rim Terrain Pack Unboxed
First off, yep, it’s all in one bag. That’s something we’ve come to expect with the AMG products. It turned out to be a good thing, too. More on that below.
Here are all the bits from the baggy laid out. You get the three large parts of the bunker and then the sprue for the accessories. Now, if you notice, a few bits broke off from the sprue. There were also those little tabs that snapped off in transit. I’m guessing those tabs were for the plastic injection process. Anyhow, I’m glad they were all in the baggy because there’s a chance those bits could have slipped out at some point and been lost forever. But they weren’t. And yes, the wing did snap. but it was at least a clean break and I was able to fix it all with some glue.
I did a quick dry-fit here just to get an idea of the size of the bunker. As you can see it sits just over 4″ tall. That’s with out the cannon on top. This should be a nice piece of cover and line-of-sight blocking terrain for your games. I also like the divots and weathering that was sculpted on. You can tell this bunker has been around for a bit.
But how did it all come together? Pretty fast and easily actually.
Outer Rim Terrain Pack Assembled
As you can see, I put together all the components. Now, there are instructions but really, this kit really only goes together in a very specific manner. The crates were maybe the trickiest part of this build. And that’s not really saying much as they were pretty easy to figure out, too.
Again, even with the broken wing, I was able to assemble the Bogwing miniature no problem. A little plastic glue and it was whole again. The crates are still a really cool addition and I sincerely hope AMG makes a box of more scatter terrain with those crates. The tarp was a nice touch and I like the fact that there’s fold-lines in the tarp, too. It really gives it a sense of depth and realist detail.
Here’s a top view of the bunker. It’s worth noting that the inside of the turret is basically flat and blank. If you don’t glue the gun emplacement in, it will also swivel. So that’s nice. I’m not sure what the little antennae are for but they are a nice doodad to break up the top of the bunker. I could see a Shatterpoint miniature or two on top of this thing dueling. I’m not sure what’s up with the gun emplacement other than it looks Star Wars appropriate.
Overally, it’s a solid kit for your tabletop. I could see this fitting in with your existing terrain sets as a nice addition. It’s probably not for every collector but if you’ve got a home setup it’s worth snagging one. It’s also very sturdy once it’s all built. I used plastic glue and that bunker isn’t coming apart easily now. I think a quick paint job with some drybrushing will really bring out the divots and scars on the bunker, too. Should be an easy piece to get painted up.
The Outer Rim Outpost Terrain Pack is out now from AMG and Asmodee. You can pick this one up online or from your FLGS.
