This week’s Kickstarter roundup puts you in the middle of a summer time slasher movie, a dinosaur theme park, a mushroom kingdom, and more.

Hanami

Pack your bento box, grab your picnic blanket, and find the perfect spot under the treetops. The sakura blossoms are in full bloom and people from all over are gathering in parks for Hanami–or “flower viewing”—a centuries-old Japanese springtime tradition. But competition for the best spots can be fierce! You’ll need to strategically place your group near the food, flowers, and festivities of the day. Get the best spot, enjoy the most activities, and win Hanami!

Hanami is a competitive game of finding the best spot for looking at some flowers. The board is beautiful, the premise is surprisingly relaxing, and strategy will have you scoping out some prime flowering viewing real estate.

Raptor Ruckus

Welcome to Raptor Ruckus––a rules light, d20 tabletop roleplaying game where the fences are down, the power’s out, and you’re back at the bottom of the food chain! It’s survival horror by way of Dinosaurs circa 1993.

This is a self-contained game that uses the award-winning MÖRK BORG framework but overhauled, expanded, and re-imagined. Getting into a bloody fight will be the last thing on your list of priorities.

What if a dino-theme-park game played a little more a MÖRK BORG? You’d have Raptor Ruckus! I don’t think I will ever get board of Jurassic Park-like games. And this one looks like so much fun with the infamous MÖRK BORG system.

Skyscratchers

This is Skyscratchers! Wrangle your runaway cats up a 3D, magnetic skyscraper. Easy to learn, sneaky-strategic to master — fast turns, devious knockdowns, and endless puzzly layouts with rearrangeable magnetic windows.

The family cats found an open window and made a break for it! As loyal butlers of a ritzy penthouse family, it’s your job to lure the runaway cats back home… armed only with cat toys, creativity, and a pinch of strategy.

It looks simple: play cat toy cards to lure your cats window to window, climbing up toward the Penthouse. But each turn is a clever little puzzle – do you play it safe by staying on your color windows, or risk it all by leaping past rivals and racing to the top?

Are you ever outside trying to lure cats out of bushes or out from under cats? No, just me? What about luring cake cats into your windows on a colorful skyscraper?

Wanted Wombats

Wanted Wombats is a laugh-out-loud, push-your-luck card game!

Use deduction to guess the right wombat and you can push your luck to grab even more, but guess wrong and you lose ALL the wombats you’ve captured that turn!

Wanted Wombats is easy to teach, plays at ANY player count, an can literally be played anywhere! You can play this game at the park, on the bus, out at lunch, on a plane… literally anywhere! You can even play Wanted Wombats without speaking, just by holding up a few fingers.

Collect as many wombats as you can, and do it from anywhere. While so many board and card games require a lot of space to play, I love a good game that you can bring with you, set up, play, and pack up quickly and easily.

Camp Grizzly

Alright, counselors. Gather ’round the campfire! The year is 1979, the canoes are in the water, the mess hall smells like sloppy joes, and Camp Grizzly is open for the season… But something’s not quite right in these woods.

You’re no longer just wrangling kids or roasting marshmallows, now you’re being hunted. That’s right. Otis is out there – a twisted soul with a bear mask, a rusty garden rake, and a whole lot of unresolved trauma. He’s stalking in the cabins, lurking on the trails, and he’s got one goal: to turn your summer job into a bloody campfire story.

You’ll need to work together to explore the campgrounds and find whatever weapons and items you can use to fight. Piece together the objectives needed to trigger one of the four dramatic finales. Make it to the end in one piece, and you win. Get sloppy? Well, we’ll be telling ghost stories about you next year.

Just in time for the spookiest season of all, Camp Grizzly puts you right in the middle of your favorite slasher movie. Will you survive? Will you protect the campers? Or will you make the bad choices that audience members heckle the screen over?

Mycelia

Mycelia is a dynamic game of tactics – a competition for space and resources to create your own mushroom kingdom. The game follows the life cycle of fungi. Growing mushrooms to score points, sporing them to expand your mycelial network and eventually seeing them decay to unlock special actions.

Each player’s mycelial network is made up from their mushroom tokens and spores. Players use these spores in the right locations to grow (fruit) further mushrooms gaining points and expanding their network. Your opponents (aka your so-called friends) can disrupt your network by stealing spores and even blocking your mushrooms. Being efficient with your spores, whilst using your Mother mushroom and decay action in clever ways, will keep you on top of many a tactical conundrum.

Mushroom are neat, and you can grow your entire mushroom kingdom! This Mycelia expansion focuses on North American mushroom. So maybe I’ll see a few that I recognize.
