Want to build scenes from Interstellar, Men in Black, and Arrival? These LEGO sci-fi sets could become reality—they just need your vote.

Interstellar

This set recreates the tesseract and weaves important moments from the film into the build. It includes dioramas of Miller’s planet (with CASE and Brand), another of Mann’s planet (with Mann and TARS), and Murph’s room (with Cooper and Murph) in the streams of the four-dimensional cube. Gargantua and the Endurance are also prominently featured. I dig this LEGO sci-fi set because it elegantly captures iconic scenes from the movie. It’s a good size at about 16 x 16 x 19 inches and 4,650 pieces.

This set is in the 10K club and is being reviewed by the folks at LEGO. Keep track of its progress here.

Arrival

The critically acclaimed movie about linguistics, metaphors, and aliens was robbed of several Oscars. It should get a kit to make up for that. This set interpreted the interior of the alien ship and one of the learning sessions into plastic bricks.

The set includes minifigures of Dr. Louise Banks (Amy Adams), Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner), and Colonel Weber (Forest Whitaker) and two of their military escorts. Each character comes with their hazmat gear, and Dr. Banks has an alternate outfit and language tablet. And of course, on the other side of the misty wall separating the humans from the aliens, we’ve got LEGO versions of Abbott and Costello, the heptapod aliens.

Firefly

Build the starship from the beloved series with this set made up of 25 modules that give access to its interior, which has space for minifigs and support vehicles. The Mule can accomidate a minifig and fits in the cargo bay. It also features the cockpit, crew dining area, engine bay, and hatches to personal quarters. All in a 2,850 piece build. It also includes Mal, River, Simon, Shepard, Jayne, Inara, Kaylee, Zoe, and Wash minifigs.

Innerspace

It’s 1987. Outer space is getting boring, so it’s time to go to Innerspace. A marine is checking out a new kind of ship when he unexpectedly finds himself miniaturized and floating around the body of a hypochondriac. There are dueling scientists, hijinks, and giant (I mean giant) blood cells. The adventure is directed by Joe Dante, the guy behind Gremlins. It won ILM an Academy Award for special effects.

This LEGO sci-fi set focuses on the ship, which has many great details that include moving arms and a minifig pilot’s seat.

Edge of Tomorrow

Get stuck in a time loop with this action packed set. It features several builds in one—a 954 piece dropship, a 206 piece transport vehicle, 3 buildable mimics, and 8 minfigs with buildable exoskeletons. The dropship has four engines and storage for exoskeletons and equipment, plus a detachable cargo bay with side bay doors, and a rear winch control for dramatic troop deployments.

Spaceballs

This set has a chance at perfect timing if it can hit 10K in time for the next review period. The sequel has been announced and Rick Moranis is coming back to play Dark Helmet—it’s hitting theaters in 2027. Build the Eagle-5 and display it with Lone Starr, his sidekick Barf, Princess Vespa, her droid Dot Matrix, Dark Helmet and Yogurt minifigs.

Men in Black

Along with the Monocycles from Men in Black 3, this set comes with Agent K and Agent J minigs and the iconic car from the first movie.

Agent K’s car is more than just a sleek black sedan — it’s a secret weapon on wheels. The LEGO version features the car in its’ auxiliary mode. In the film, the auxiliary mode was triggered by pressing a red button located next to a lever on the floor, intended only for exceptional situations. A memorable instance occurs when K instructs J to activate it to escape heavy traffic in the Queens tunnel. Once engaged, the car accelerates with such force that it drives along the tunnel’s ceiling, effectively “flying” over the jam below.

Ready Player One

Build the Winnebago filled real world from the dystopian novel. This set recreates three levels of the dilapidated stacks in this set. The first floor, where Mrs. Gilmore and her flowers reside, and the delivery drone are inspired by the opening scene of the 2018 movie. Wade, Samantha, and several other residents of the stacks fill out the set.
