The new Space Marine Battleforce: Crux Terminatus is on the way. What sort of deal will this one be for fans of mighty Terminators?

There’s a new Space Marine Battleforce on the way and it’s packing the bulk. It’s all Terminators and it’s looking ready to rumble. That said, I was curious about what sort of a deal this one would turn out to be. So let’s bust out the math and break this one down.

If the box price does end up being $250 you’re saving almost $100 off the individual retail price. That’s really not too shabby! Plus, you’ve got a pretty solid core of Terminators to build off of from this box. Based on the current Space Marine points, you’re looking at 775 points in miniatures right there. If you’re going to run this Battleforce you’re pretty much locked in with those Terminators! That’s not a bad thing either as you can kit them out to deal with basically everything in the game. There are few armies that can setup across from this and think “Only 15 terminators? I got this…”

You could double-up on Thunder Hammers or opt for a whole lot of Lightning Claws. Vehicles will be terrified of the Thunder Hammers. Infantry will fall like chaff to the Lightning Claws. It really depends on how you want to roll out. Other upgrades from here are pretty obvious, too. Basically, just grab whatever other Terminators you can get your hands on. A Terminator Librarian seems like an obvious choice. And who better to lead them all than Marneus Calgar in his new Terminator gear?

It’s almost like GW planned that or something. If you still need to fill things out I’d suggest a transport or two that can taxi these Terminators around. Unless you just plan on deepstirking all day, every day. In that case, other firesupport could be warranted. Maybe a Dreadnought or two to back them up — from a distance. There’s also the option to break with the theme and get some smaller squads to go sit on objectives. But you’re going to be running thin on points so keep that in mind. I always like to think about how this army list can score objectives before I finalize it.

However you slice it though, this Battleforce is a box full of Terminators. It’s a very specific playstyle. So if that’s your cup of tea I say go for it! This looks like a good deal overall and it’s not easy to deal with that many Terminators.

Ahh, the classic “brick-to-face” army list. I can dig it.
