D&D: Get Organized And Inspired With New Campaign Journals

Keep track of what’s going on between each session, whether you’re a Dungeon Master or a player, with Campaign Journals for all.

It’s a weekend for D&D and D&D Accessories as this week sees the release of a number of different player and DM accessories, including and especially two different Campaign Journals – one for players and one for DMs. As well, you’ll find a D&D coloring book and a book of crochet patterns, because the Venn diagram of people who both crochet and play D&D might not be a complete circle, but it’s almost there.

But for now, let’s start with the Campaign Journals. Both journals are aimed at different sides of the same coin. First, the Dungeon Master’s Campaign Journal, which is the one you’ll want if you’re a DM. Obviously. It is full of all sorts of information to help you organize your campaign. If you’re the kind of person who can actually use a planner, this is extremely helpful.

But even if you’re a chaotic gremlin who has a single Google doc where you write down initiative order in fights, names of NPCs (AND NO NOTES ABOUT THEM) and the occasional interesting thing your players have said, this journal can be helpful as a reminder of what things you should think about.

For instance, do you often have a journal prompting you to keep logs of each session? Asking you about the stakes at hand for the current adventure? Or where your next session is going to begin? What threads might be following up on, and more importantly, what do you as the DM want to see happen in the next session?

There are questions like these for almost every variable in the equation. Need to remember who an NPC is, or what their deal is exactly? It can be easy to do if you have it all written down.

And there’s something to be said for writing it all down, too. Physical artifacts are coming back in a big way. I think it’s because the pendulum has swung a little too far in the digital direction. I know I’ve been using more tokens and counters and in-person accessories that make the game a little more visceral.

Plus it’s just nice to have a character sheet that doesn’t require you to be connected to the internet in order to play. Sometimes you wanna unplug.

Dragons of the Realms Coloring Book

But let’s talk about this coloring book. In Dragons of the Realms, you’ll get an official art project, in the form of a coloring book. Honestly, this one I’d gift to someone, probably a younger reader alongside the Young Adventurer’s Guides. That said, the pages are pretty intricate. Check ’em out!

D&D Crochet: A Book of Many Patterns

Finally, the D&D Crochet book. Literally titled Dungeons & Dragons Crochet – A Book of Many Patterns, this book is your guide to crafting all sorts of incredible D&D accessories. If you’ve got a crochet kit – and odds are good you do, this one lets you get even nerdier with it. These crocheted critters make it easy to create custom plushy gifts for your favorite player or GM.
