Explore the Far Reaches of Space With This Week’s Sci-Fi STL Picks
The deep-space, sci-fi, and high-tech games need minis, too. And these printable minis will have you traveling to faraway planets in no time.
For your games with space ships, advanced technology, and exploration of places beyond anything your players can imagine, you’ll need some equally high-tech looking minis. And we’ve got the tools you need to make them a reality.
Spacewalk STL
It’s a classic design, but the space-suit is an instantly recognizable part of any game where you’re exploring the stars. There’s something about a suit that looks very similar to our current designs that always makes a scene feel instantly more stressful to me. Is this spacewalk going to go to plan? Roll a die and find out.
Walker Gun Mech STL

Of course, not everything has to look like the tech we have now. This walker gun mech looks like something out of an anime. And if it appeared on the map in a game I was playing, I’d have a few concerns. This is also an entire print kit with nine leg poses and positions.
3D Resin Printer
Last week, we talked about PLA printers. But if you’re looking for precision and detail printing, such as what you’d expect from a mini, a resin printer may be the way to go. Similar to last week’s PLA pick, this printer is ideal for beginners, needs very little leveling, is good to go pretty much out of the box, and will have you printing in gorgeous detail in no time at all. Both kinds of printing have their pros and cons, so figure out how you want to bring your minis to life and get creating!
Space Pioneers STL
You’ll probably need a whole team in space. And these six pioneers will do a variety of jobs from engineering to drilling, to medic to command. Every character has a unique design and personality, so your crew is sure to be colorful and fun. Whether they’re players or NPCs, you’ll likely want at least a few of these people on your team. At very least, I hope your character isn’t up there alone!
Resin
If you’re eying a resin printer, you’ll probably also want to check out the resin. It cures quickly, looks incredible, and comes in a huge variety of colors, including a clear resin. Some colors may be easier to prime and paint over. Others will just look very cool at your table as is. But all of them will be a great pick for a first-time resin printer.
Space Buildings STL
Whether your players are visiting a civilization on a faraway planet or setting up camp and building a community of their own, they’ll need buildings. These are a variety of viewing towers, control buildings, and communication arrays. But they are also flexible and generic enough that they could be whatever futuristic space building they may need to be. Build an entire village for your intrepid explorers, or design a full spaceport.
