Games Workshop Rumor Engine: Another Link In The Chain
We’ve got a brand new image to ponder about. It’s just another link in the chain…of Rumor Engines from Games Workshop!
Games Workshop is back with a brand new image. Because it’s Tuesday and that means it’s Rumor Engine time. This one is a tough one because we can clearly see the chains…but that doesn’t answer the question of who’s wearing them.
“Well clearly the Rumour Engine is already sick of our shenanigans because we’ve been trying to come up with a chain-based pun all morning and… nothing. Just take a look at these – they even have manacles.”

Ya know, I also don’t have any witty puns here. But I’m am curious about these chains. Why do they have shackles on them? My first guess was that they were chaos related.
They have chains on their armor but the more I look at these the more I think they could be something else.
The Nighthaunt army has a lot of chains. Plus they have a lot of “captured” souls — which would explain the shackles. However, the design of these links looks sharper than their more rounded chains.
That got me thinking about the Helsmiths, but more specifically the Hobgrot Vandalz of the Helsmiths. The best example of their chains was this chain whip. I’m not 100% sure but those look closer in design. But that brings me back to chaos in general…
The Great Unclean One also has chains — but they loo much different. Maybe this chain is from the other end of the spectrum? Perhaps an Order Army? Or even a Space Marine? That’s the thing about this set of chains. It’s kind of generic, too.
Even Stormcast Eternals have chains on some of their miniatures. The designs are different though. So I’m at a bit of a loss here. What faction could be wearing chains with shackles on them? If you’ve got any ideas drop us a line in the comments. I’m curious about this one!
