Warhammer 40K: 10th Editions’s Top 5 Infiltrating Units
Goatboy here with the top 5 40K units you will see in a competitive game that Infiltrate. Watch out for these sneaks!
The ability to Infiltrate allows the unit to basically deploy outside your deployment zone and more than 9″ aways from your opponent’s deployment zone. This allows you to get closer to the enemy, sit on an objective in no man’s land, or just pre block any movement for a rush/jail/assault army. All those rules make having infiltrators a very powerful ability for armies that need this. It also lets you have a bit of disruption to your opponent’s game plan which could easily turn the tide in a game.
#5 – Nurglings – Chaos Daemons
Here is the unit you will see in so many Chaos Knight armies, Chaos Space Marine Armies, and Chaos Daemons. They have 0 OC but they are cheap and do a great job of setting up the battlefield. They put some pressure on the opponent, they help control the lines of assault into your army and just do a great job of taking up space. I left them at 5 because while they infiltrate and are heavily used, they are just not that good.
#4 – Kommandos – Orks
Kommandos are an interesting Ork unit as they can combat squad which is a unique thing for Orks. The ability to take a unit of 10 and effectively get 2 5-man units to go disrupt things is a great ability. I think we don’t see them nearly as often as the Ork player, normally doesn’t need to create space nearly as much as some of the other armies. The army just wants to get mixed in as fast as they can and hopefully keep you from scoring primary.
#3 – Rangers – Aeldari
The poster child for sneaky units these guys can just be a pain to dig out of an entrenched area. The Aeldari army has so many options to move-block you and control the game the Rangers just help initially set up avenues to get where they need to go. I think this unit has been a pain in the butt in all Editions of this army since the dawn of time.
#2 – Scout Squad – Space Marines
Hey, this unit Infiltrates, Scout moves and can go up and down. It does a whole heck of a lot for 70 points, and we see them show up a lot in Space Marine armies that could utilize these guys to hold down an objective or disappear and show up on another objective. A unit or two is always swell to have in your Space Marine collection.
#1 – Sicarian Infiltrators – Adeptus Mechanicus
This is one of the one two punch we currently see within the Ad-mech codex. An over-tuning of rules mixed with a generous point drops has created a very expensive infiltrating monster. Truly go look at how much it would cost to get this army together. Also look at how you would even transport this thing with all the spindly bits and pieces. It is a nightmare of pressure and pain, and this is one of the units leading the first wave of cybernetic bullies to hit the tabletop.
What is your go-to Infiltrating unit?
