The recent GW Preview showed a few new characters coming for Xenos. Here’s what the Chaos armies need next:

The recent GW Preview showed a few new characters coming for Tyranids, Leagues of Votann, and T’au Empire.  I bet we’ll see some others for the other armies in the 40k universe. So today I want to think about the top 5 options I would love to see come out for the Chaos armies.  I am sure will see a ton for the other armies but let’s start with ChaosfFirst and look for cool single model or single unit entries that might show up.

Chaos Space Marines – Return of the Aspiring Champion

I always like the idea of a mixture of a fight-based option that is still connected to leadership in some ways.  I know Chaos Space Marines has the Master of Executions but having a 2nd in command to match up the Lieutenant like option from Space Marines would be cool.  I think giving a simplified rule for the unit they join would be awesome and even if it is something chained into the Dark Pact power.  I would think a cool one would just be giving the unit the Helbrute like aura power but now attached to a character could be interesting and give GW a chance to “redo” the old Aspiring Champion model that is still very cool. Minis-wise, just like Primaris LTs, GW should make a themed set of these for all 9 Legions. They would sell like hotcakes!

World Eaters – Butcher Surgeon

This is a model that shows up in the fluff and would be awesome to see it show up in the game.  I think we would make it some kind of Terminator character as it would help give that unit a leadership option and kind of let it feel unique to the World Eaters army.  They do not need any more Berserker leaders and while another Eightbound option would be cool I think the Slaughterbrute is very good right now. I think a Chaos Terminator Lord might be cool, but they really have pushed those types of options out of the army and leaving a unique World Eater option would be cool in the Butcher Surgeon.

Emperor’s Children – An Awesome Amped-up Sonic Helbrute

I know the others were characters but building a cool looking Emperor’s Children Helbrute would make for an amazing kit.  You could set it up to give out an Aura to increase the range of Sonic Weapons and help pull the army away from being such a short-range option. I know a lot of people would just like the Forgefiend to show up for the book but having a cool Helbrute with supersonic weapons and Blastmasters would be cool and letting it help the army out would make for a unique kit.

Thousand Sons – A True Tech Marine/Magus – Embrace the Robot/AI Aspect of T Sons

I know that the current Thousand Sons codexes have a ton of Daemon Engines and vehicles to use so why not create a Magical Tech Marine for the army?  It could match up some of those rules, empower the vehicles, and even give a chance to daemonically infuse one of the pet vehicles.  I think just moving into some of the technical marvels the Thousand Sons did in the fluff would just be an awesome thing.  Let the model look like a floating Sorcerer with mechatendrils floating around and creating a cool pose to paint up.

Death Guard –  Poxwalker Leader aka – Super-Zombie!

I think the idea of having some Death Guard Super Zombies would be neat. You could say this is the upgraded virus from Nurgle and they boost up those Poxwalkers into a scary unit.  I know Typhus helps but just letting it be this weird, bloated Zombie would be cool.  They could also just look to creating other unique Pox Walker units that are better and let you create a true zombie army.

I didn’t go into Chaos Daemons as right now any new units for those armies would fall into Age of Sigmar as I feel GW looks at AOS as the true home for these monsters.  I feel the just don’t know what to do for them in 40K. While I think the fluff feels important the actual rules for 40K Chaos Daemons are just in an odd place.  We’ll see if GW feeds the Chaos factions with a few more Daemon units in the future or just leaves the missing Daemon codex units living and breathing in the Age of Sigmar world.

What cool single models would you add to round out the 40K Chaos armies?
