Age of Sigmar: Grotmas Calendar Day 24 – Red Gobbo’s Big Heist Battleplan

There’s a new free Battleplan for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar to download for Grotmas. The Red Gobbo is looking to make a big score!

You know I hadn’t really thought about the Red Gobbo’s latest miniature as something from the Mortal Realms. I just assumed it was for 40k. But maybe he’s one of those creatures that sort of goes where he wants in the various worlds of Warhammer. Anyhow, there’s a new free Battleplan to download and try out over the Holiday break. I’m guessing you can use any of the Red Gobbo miniatures to play it (or a suitable stand in).

And today it looks like he has even gone so far as to steal an experimental suit of armour from the Mortal Realms. A free new battleplan tasks you with mustering an army and either helping or hindering our light-fingered rogue to escape the workshop of Niklozzar of the Ashen Beard.

The Red Gobbo’s Grotmas Getaway

This Battleplan isn’t too complex but there’s definitely some curveballs. We’ve got the standard Attacker and Defender replaced with the “Naughty” and the “Nice” player. The setup is not complicated as long as you’re not overthinking it. You’re going to want to read this one entirely before you start setting up though. It makes a lot more sense when you read ALL of the battleplan.

What’s really weird is that both players kind of want the Red Gobbo to stick around the whole game. The “Nice” player gets a defensive boost while contesting the Red Gobbo. The “Naughty” player gets an offensive one with Crit (Auto-wound) while contesting. And if the Red Gobbo makes it to an exit, the game ends and both players loose. It’s still a VP game and you want to score by controlling the Red Gobbo. That said, he’s got some pretty funky rules so…good luck with this one!

I’m honestly curious to see this one in action. Now I just need to convince someone else to play this crazy Battleplan with me. Maybe if I spike some eggnog first…
