Games Workshop: Grotmas Calendar 2025
Games Workshop is doing the whole Grotmas Calendar thing again for 2025. But this one is a lot different that last year.
This year we’re getting a Grotmas Calendar from Games Workshop once again. It’s their spin on an Advent Calendar and it’s usually a good time. This year’s version is starting off on a very different note. For 2024, we had a calendar that brought us a massive list of Detachments that were legal for Matched play. It was quite the undertaking for sure. And in previous years we’d get bombarded with Rumor Engine-style teaser images. This time around? We’re starting off with a lore drop.
Grotmas Day 1 – Titus Lore
“Welcome! It’s the first instalment of the Grotmas calendar! And today Da Red Gobbo has found some Warhammer 40,000 fiction. It looks like even news of Captain Titus and the Ultramarines can make a huge difference to a battle zone’s morale…”
Now, I’m not going to go full spoiler for the Captain Titus Lore. If you’re interested in that then go read the full lore bomb here. What I do want to talk about is this version of the Grotmas Calendar.
While I do like lore and the background story/plots of 40k I’m really hoping we get more than lore drops for the next 24 days. And we will… hopefully.
“Every day from now until the 24th of December there will be a new treat to enjoy, from new game rules and painting guides to unreleased Warhammer fiction, with an extra special reveal capping everything off on Grotmas Day.”
So we’re in for a really wide mix of stuff this year. New rules are nice. Painting guides can be useful. And the Warhammer fiction will be nice cushion. As far as reveals, we’re apparently getting “an extra special” one on Grotmas Day. Based on the happenings at GW, I have a feeling it’s going to be an Ultramarine or Marine-Adjacent.
Anyhow, I have a theory about that whole “Ultra-Mad” Protest. But that’s another topic. For now, I’m really hoping we see some good stuff from the Grotmas Calendar. It’s also worth noting that this year we’re going to be seeing a splash of AoS things, too. We’ll have to see how this one pans out.
At least the art for the Red Gobbo’s new lair looks cool!
