Games Workshop Rumor Engine: The Relic Skull
Games Workshop’s latest Rumor Engine is here and it’s one smiling skull fit for a reliquary. Or is it something more sinister?
Welcome to another Tuesday and a brand new Rumor Engine to kick things off in December. You know, with Grotmas going on, I wasn’t sure we’d get a Rumor Engine. I’m glad to be surprised. Anyhow, let’s take a look at the new image. Here’s a hint: It’s a skull.
“We had some pithy quip about skulls ready for this week’s Rumour Engine, but honestly… look at this guy. You wish you were having this good of a time.”
Rumor Engine – Relic Skull
Right off the bat my first guess here is for Cities of Sigmar. Why? Well, they are know to take relics into battle. And, apparently, don’t mind carrying around severed heads or skulls in boxes.
Plus the circlet/crown on the skull is also a tip off that this could be someone they would have highly regarded. Then again, lots of armies in Warhammer like skulls…
Let’s not forget about the Stormcast Eternals, specifically the Lord-Relictor. He’s got a freaking skeleton in a reliquary. And it’s ALSO got a circlet/crown on it’s head, too. So yeah, this could 100% be a new thing for the forces of Order. I’m hesitant to say it could also be for Chaos or Undead as it’s not quite spiky/corrupted enough. But hey, those factions do like their skulls.
I mean, Khorne in particular has a bit of a thing for skulls. Maybe it’s one of his followers showing off a trophy?
And again, the Undead are kind of famous for skulls, too. Maybe this is part of some weird shrine or altar that a Necromancer would use to summon more dead to their cause? It’s really hard to tell with just this image. On the plus side, at least we can tell there’s a lot more going on there.
