LEGO: My Top Five Favorite Sets Of 2025
My favorite LEGO sets from this year – from Blacktron and Star Wars to one of the best modular buildings ever.
Tudor Corner (10350-1)
I’ve long been a fan of the LEGO modular building line. In fact, the only reason I don’t own some of them is that I think I’d end up going off the deep end and owning all of them! But this Tudor build really tempted me. It’s just a really pretty and cozy build (and one that my wife and I might fight over!) Of the ones they’ve put out recently, it really caught my eye, enough so that I picked it as a prize to give out for a corporate party!
It’s just a cool build with a lot of character. At 3,231 parts, it’s also a good-sized build. 8 Minifigs also round it out, and it really is the best of what this theme can be. And… oh hang on, I just talked myself into getting it. BRB.
Blacktron I (10355-1)
I grew up in the golden age of LEGO space themes. You had a ton of really cool and inventive sub-themes that really took you to the edge of space and back. These days, when LEGO does space ships, it’s normally tied into a big IP like Star Wars. I love those sets, but I do think a little bit has been lost. Because of that, it’s been really nice to see LEGO bring back a few ships from its own classic lines. While this retro Blacktron set isn’t a direct remake of an old ship, it is a homage with modern twists, and that’s awesome.
This set is retiring at the end of the year. Grab it while you still can.
NU.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D (10356-1)
Speaking of space ships from big IPs… OK, confession time, I’m not a Trekkie. I’ve seen most of the movies, but I’ve never watched a whole episode of Star Trek in my life. I’m very firmly in the Star Wars side of the fandom, but I do respect Trek. So this isn’t a set that I’d actually ever own myself. But it is really cool, and getting LEGO Star Trek sets is a big deal and super great. I think they did a good job with this one, and I am really looking forward to what else they make.
Acclamator-Class Assault Ship (75404-1)
Going over to my chosen space franchise (and why yes, I do like spaceships a lot), we’ve got the Acclamator. I’ve been a huge fan of the starship/midi scale line of ships since they first started putting them out. And this has got to be one of my favorites. Maybe I just like the Old Republic aesthetic. But this is a wonderful little build with tons of details and great easter eggs. I might own three of them. Maybe. And I can’t wait to combine them into a bit of a diorama with next year’s Venator release.

Adventure in Transylvania – (910049-1)
Lastly, we’ve got the Adventure in Transylvania Castle. This came out of the Bricklink Designer Program Series 5. So it was a limited-time, crowdfunded release, but anyone could get one. And I mean.. look at this thing! It’s everything you could want out of a crazy Gothic LEGO castle. It’s just dripping in vibes and style. It’s also a very different castle, which is awesome. I’ll actually be building mine over the holidays, so that is something to really look forward to!
You can get your own on the aftermarket with an added premium.
Bonus- Mini Knight’s Castle (40775-1)
Now, this is probably my favorite set that LEGO has put out all year. However, I’ve added it as a bonus because it was a reward set around Black Friday and not something you could just go buy. The Mini Knight’s Castle recreates two classic LEGO castles in tiny scale. I owned both of these castles back in the day, so the nostalgia is strong here. I’m definitely the target audience for this. I didn’t go buy extra Acclamators just to get these… but I also didn’t not do that.
And look, these builds have a lot of love into them for how small they are. Both of them have moving parts to mimic the play features of the big builds. They also have a ton of details. For instance, the Black Knight’s Castle (the right) came with a large hill baseplate with a hollow area in the middle. In the original build, that hollow is covered up and doesn’t really play into the build. In the mini version, you actually also build out this hollow area and then cover it up in pretty much the same way. Despite the fact that no one will see this, and they didn’t have to do it, they did. That’s love.
