Warhammer 40K: Grotmas Calendar Day 9 – Emperor’s Children New Detachment
The Emperor’s Children have a new Detachment thanks to the Grotmas Calendar. This one is all about Fulgrim.
If you’re a fan of the Daemon Prince Primarch Fulgrim this one is for you! Get him on the tabletop and toss out some crazy buffs as you plow into the enemy lines and send them screaming to the afterlife. It’s the Phoenician’s turn to play…
“This Detachment is open to all Emperor’s Children armies, but it certainly encourages you to use Fulgrim himself. When charging you can give your units +1 Str and +1 AP to their melee attacks. On top of this Fulgrim can make use of two of the best strats in the detachment at a reduced CP cost.”

Emperor’s Children Detachment – Court of the Phoenician
As mentioned in the text above, you can technically use this for any Emperor’s Children army. However, let’s be real, this is designed with Fulgrim in mind. The Master of the Pageant ability is specific to him and it’s totally worth using. Alongside that obvious synergy, the Sensational Performance ability also buffs your other units. Provided they are charging different enemy units. The bonus to strength and AP is kind of nice.
Following up with those there are other Enhancements you can take. I like the Tears of the Phoenix option just because it allows you to essentially ignore the negative modifiers to your WS and To Hit roll. The wording is kind of odds with the “any or all” but I think that makes it pretty clear you can pick and choose.
As far as stratagems go you’ve got another six to play around with as well. Ideally, you’re going to want to use them on Fulgrim for the discount. Sinuous Breach basically lets him ignore terrain for moves/charges. And Prideful Superiority really makes him deadly against other characters. As if he needed to be more deadly…
Overall, I think this is a gnarly little detachment option if you looking to run Fulgrim. It’s certainly worth checking out closer for fans of the Phoenician!
A more deadly Daemon Prince Primarch? Yeah…why not?!
