I’ve put together a mean Dark Angels list that utilizes the new Bastion Task Force detachment and its sneaky Hero of the Chapter enhancement!

I’ve been obsessed with the new Detachment for a week, and thought let’s build a Dark Angels list that utilizes the Bastion Task Force and its Hero of the Chapter enhancement.  I really like the interaction with the Black Knights and think utilizing them as an initial task force followed by waves of Deathwing Knights will be a good mixture of pain to bring to the table top.  I have always thought building your army to strike in waves on different turns is a good way to build a winning force so let’s see if we can get this to work.

Putting the Dark Angels List Together

I already talked about this before but let’s throw in a Ravenwing Command Squad plus Ravenwing Black Knights together into a unit.

Ravenwing Command Squad – 140pts
Enhancement – Hero of the Chapter

Ravenwing Black Knights X 6 – 160pts

Total – 300pts

From there I think I want to throw in two Deathwing Knights units to help shore up and create a second wave.  It will also give some bricks to sit in the middle and help protect the other Battleline units I want to add in later.

Deathwing Knights X 5 – 250pts
Deathwing Knights X 5 – 250pts

Total – 500pts

We’ll now look at 2 Battleline units and a leader for the bigger one.  I really think now is the time to shine for the Heavy Intercessors so will throw in a big unit and character to help lead them.  This will let me give out some Auspex scans to enemy units which can help give some Advance/Charge for my Deathwing Knights.  The enhancement on the Captain gives the unit Precision which feels handy for all those 2 Damage shots the Heavy Intercessors can dish out.

Captain in Gravis Armor – 90pts
Enhancement – Eye of the Primarch

Intercessors X 5 – 80pts

Total – 370pts

Now we look at things to help the army out and fill in pieces I would like to see.  I still like the Lion as another bully unit to run behind this mess so will add him.  He looks cool and is always fun to see him on the table top.  The other two pieces will be Hammerstrike speeders that have a decent set of shooting and take away cover from the enemy.  This could be helpful with the Black Knights and Heavy Intercessors to help push thru some damage.

Lion El’Jonson – 315pts

Storm Speeder Hammerstrike – 125pts
Storm Speeder Hammerstrike – 125pts

Total – 465pts

Let’s get this all looking nice so you can see it.

Dark Angels Bastion Task Force Tactics

This isn’t a big army but it does take up a lot of room.  There are a ton of wounds on the table and it has some very fast attack options with the Black Knights that can come in and wreck you quickly.  There is also some decent damage potential too.  I like the Command Squad as you can heal a model back with the Apothecary in the unit and it feels like it could do some work.  It also isn’t a big army and that is a great thing if you want to travel with it etc.
