LEGO: January New Releases You Can Actually Get Your Hands On
A bunch of sets dropped on New Year’s Day and instantly sold out – but not everything. You can still snag new Star Wars, Speed Champions, Botanicals, and more.
So, you may have to wait a bit longer to get the Creel House, new Iron Man suit, and smaller-scale DeLorean – but there are plenty of great new releases you can get now. These are my highlights, and there’s a list of more at the bottom of the post.
Star Wars: BB-8 (75452)
A fun-sized Star Wars set that’s great for play and display just about anywhere. This BB-8’s head spins around as you move it over a flat surface, and opening a hatch at the front of its body reveals a burner ‘thumbs up’ arm. You’ll have to make your own droid beeping noises, however.

Botanicals Peace Lily (11504)
The set features lilies in three stages of life: from two delicate buds and two partially opened blooms to two flowers in full blossom. Like the original Bonsai tree, it utilizes existing LEGO pieces – including a recolored carrot for the spadix and a popcorn element crowning the fully opened flower. The plant’s green, brick-built foliage spills over a peach-coloured pot you can display anywhere you need some serenity.

Technic 1966 Ford GT40 MKII (42223)
The Ford GT40 MkII was developed by Ford to beat Ferrari at Le Mans and famously achieved a 1-2-3 sweep in 1966. This brick-built version has opening doors, working steering, and a rear hatch that opens to reveal a V8 engine. Its black and silver livery is inspired by the car driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon.

Autumn Cottage Garden (11372)
Build a cottage surrounded by a peaceful fall garden that’s fit for a fairytale. The cozy scene includes a birch, weeping willow, blue spruce, and apple trees as well as seasonal flowers and woodland creatures. The garden is dressed with a sundial, a birdhouse, a vegetable cart, a garden gnome, and a stream with stepping stones. The cottage’s roof lifts off to reveal a cozy kitchen and fireplace.

Star Wars: AT-AT (75440)
This bookshelf-sized walker comes with a tiny speeder trying to take it down with a tow cable. I really like this scale for size considerations (I know I’m not the only one with a backlog of sets I don’t have display space for), and it’s under $75, so it won’t totally break the bank.

Speed Champions Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale (77254)
Ferrari’s fastest street-legal car is recreated in miniature with a cab-forward design, a rear wing, high tailpipes, and rims decorated with the Ferrari shield. The included minifig has its own helmet and can sit in the car’s cockpit.

Japanese Cherry Blossom Landscape (31218)
Bring the colors of springtime in Japan to you home this winter with this shadowbox style set. It features Mount Fuji, a teahouse, a bridge, a waterfall that flows over the frame, flying Japanese cranes, and cherry blossom, ’Sango-Kaku’ maple and Japanese umbrella pine trees. You can either hang it on a wall or use the included stand.
