RPG: Seek Out New Life And New Civilizations In The ‘Star Trek Adventures Species Sourcebook’
Star Trek Adventures’ new Species Sourcebook has rules for living your 4th-grade dream of creating your own Star Trek alien.
We’ve all been there, right? Three paragraphs in to your latest fanfiction about the crew of the Enterprise/Voyager/DS-9/Discovery (depending on what you were watching when you first had an awakening while watching Star Trek) and you decide that it’s time to create your own alien that’s definitely some kind of cat-person (because you didn’t know about Caitians yet).
Well, now, in Modiphius’ new Species Sourcebook for Star Trek Adventures, alongside new rules for more than 60 different iconic Star Trek aliens, you can find rules for making your own new life and new civilization.

Star Trek Adventures: Species Sourcebook – Coming Soon
Listen, I don’t know about you, but when I’m playing a roleplaying game, one of the first things I want to do is see what I can be that isn’t human. Whether that’s elves or vulcans it doesn’t matter. And Star Trek has banked on that same desire for sixty years, as they celebrate “Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations.” And in the latest sourcebook, the Species Sourcebook, Star Trek Adventures opens wide the gates of cool aliens.
Using Star Trek Adventures’ 2d20 system, the new sourcebook presents a ton of new species templates, game mechanics, and character options for Crew that ranges from Main Characters to Support. Every department, every discipline, all have something here.
You can find something for almost every Star Trek fantasy out there. Want to be a Liberated Borg? That’s in the book. Same with rules for playing androids, holograms (because who hasn’t wanted to be The EMH), even characters from the mirror universe, though what you need beyond “have an evil goatee” is anyone’s guess.
“The Species Sourcebook enables Star Trek Adventures gamemasters and players to learn more about the myriad species present in the Star Trek Galaxy and to use those species to populate their main crew and expanded cast of non-player characters.
Characters of every department, from command to medical, can apply the new species templates, game mechanics, and character options to deepen their gameplay experience. No matter the composition of your crew, this guide provides the means for you and your crew to play a wide range of alien species from every corner of the Galaxy!”

And on top of the new species, there’s also a set of more than 120 new species talents. These are options that work with the new ones, or existing species. But the real draw, for me, is the “guidance and mechanics for creating your own original Star Trek Adventures species”. Because the galaxy might have been full of strange new worlds – but they’re about to get even stranger.
Look for the Star Trek Adventures Species Sourcebook later this year!
