Warhammer 40K: Huron Blackheart & The Masters of the Maelstrom Datasheets Arrive
Huron Blackheart and his crew of misfits are coming to Warhammer 40,000 with some juicy new datasheets. Time to find out what they can do!
Games Workshop has been showing off Huron Blackheart and the Masters of the Maelstrom and today we’re getting a look at more than just their miniatures. The datasheets have been shown and now we know why the Maelstrom is in “good” hands.
Anyone else think this is a line-up you wouldn’t want to see crest a hill on a battlefield? Just me?
You can get these new datasheets and the new Red Corsairs-themed Detachment rules in an update to the Chaos Space Marines Faction Pack coming soon, which you’ll be able to find on the Warhammer Community Downloads page.
Huron Blackheart Datasheet
Huron’s datasheet has all this stats and he’s looking like a tough customer. He’s a credible combatant up close with enough attacks, AP, and damage to worry most other targets on the tabletop. What’s also scary is his “handheld” heavy flamer — that should surprise folks who know his lore though. It’s hilarious that it’s also got the pistol trait, too!
When it comes to taking objectives he’s got a nice aura boost thanks to Lord of Badab. That should ensure he can drop in an help push/take objectives with the right support. His pet Hamadrya also helps him get in the right position as well. That’s a potent little ability that can get Huron into or out of a jam.
Masters of the Maelstrom Datasheet
Up next we have the datasheet for the Masters of the Maelstrom. This is the rest of the entire crew of Huron’s enforcers. Personally, I was kind of hoping we’d see individual sheets for at least a few of these characters. Instead, we’ve got a unit that kind of mirrors the same style one that Captain Titus has with the Wardens of Ultramar. To be clear, this unit isn’t an exact copy of that unit. But the concept is similar. Anyhow, below is the datasheet so let’s take a look.
Each member of this crew brings a little something special to the fight. Some of them are really just there to kill stuff and take heads (looking at you Garrix). While others do fill a bit more of a support role in the unit. The extra rules of Choice Samples, Fleet Command, and Plunder each have their uses for sure. I’m not really sure why Plunder is named that when it’s more like a booby trap surprise…but sure.
Anyhow, Huron and Co. are coming soon. I’m looking forward to see how folks end up using this mix of units. I’m also now wondering who would win if Captain Titus and his Wardens had to face off against Huron and the Masters of the Maelstrom…
It’s a pirate’s life for me…or at least for Blackheart and his crew!
