Age of Sigmar: New ‘Grove Guardian’ Reveal & New Sylvaneth Boxed Sets Inbound
The forest has a new guardian approaching alongside the new Sylvaneth Battletome. New boxed sets are also coming to Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.
Games Workshop has a Valentine’s Day surprise in store. We’ve got a silly “perfume-esque” ad for the new Grove Guardian. So at least someone at the Warhammer Studios was having a bit of fun with this one.
These motherly murderesses are charged with nurturing the fallen lamentiri seeds that grow into new Sylvaneth, and if they’re not also the season’s most stylish way to grind Pox-Wretches into paste we don’t know what is. After all, today is all about sharing love with those important to you, and Grove Guardians can’t wait to share how much they love dicing Nurgle’s detritus up with their very important grove sickles.
New Grove Guardian Reveal
There’s a bit to unpack here in this miniature. I really like the overall look of this one but I’m a little confused about this one’s ability to move around. It seems like their legs are part of the tree which is rooted to the ground. I could be wrong here. We can’t see the back but the legs of the miniature do see to be melded with the tree.
Anyhow, this miniature does appear to be a nice mid-sized one as well. It’s hard to tell the exact scale but there IS a whole other Sylvaneth Tree-Revenant in the base of this one. Also from the picture above it does look that this Grove Guardian’s torso is either coming out of the tree or it’s slotted in like some sort of “exo-suit” which would be kind of cool.
Regardless of the finer details of this miniature it’s coming out later this year. We can expect it to arrive when Battletome: Sylvaneth also drops. That book is slated to have everything you’d expect from a battletome and the main thing will be the 25 updated warscroll entries for the army.
More Sylvaneth Releases Inbound
On top of the Grove Guardian there’s also been a handful of boxed sets announced. Honestly, I could have sworn we’ve seen these before. Maybe they are reboxes or something. Either way here’s what’s also coming down the pipe.
Battleforce: Strongroot Grove
This one has three Treelord kits as well as two sets of Three Kurnoth Hunters. If nothing else this boxed set will add some serious bark to your forest spirit army!
Spearhead: Spitewing Flight
We’ve also got a new Spearhead coming as well. This one is loaded with an Arch-Revenant, two sets of tree Revenant Seekers/Spiterider Lancers, and another five Gossamid Archers. Honestly this Spearhead looks pretty solid! It’s going to be plenty fast and those flying bugs are tougher to take out than I expected when I faced off against them. They won’t fool me again!
Regiment of Renown: Twisted Branch
This one is basically the repackaged Warcry Warband with a Branchwych added in. Not a bad little boxed set if you ask me!
We don’t have official dates for these releases so we’ll be keeping an eye out for all these later this year. Now, if GW could get a handle on the whole “needing half-a-dozen” Awakened Wyldwood terrain kits to play this army effectively then maybe I’d be more stoked about finally starting this army.
At least it’s a nice Valentine’s Day surprise!
