Star Wars: Legion – T-47 Airspeeder Unboxed & Up Close
There’s a returning fan favorite circling the battlefields of Star Wars: Legion. The T-47 Airspeeder is back and ready to trip-up the enemy!
Atomic Mass Games has been on a re-print run as of late. They’re getting their older kits updated with the new format of Star Wars: Legion and the T-47 Airspeeder is on that list. I was fortunate enough to get a review copy from them and now I’m going to share what I learned about this kit with you.
I didn’t get a close look at the original version of this kit so I was going in blind on this one. So this was my first T-47 to open up and look at.
T-47 Airspeeder Unboxed
I was in for a bit of a surprise with this one. While I was expecting the typical AMG packaging this one had one of these black plastic holders. I might keep this one around for extra storage. Or recycle it. I’m not quite sure yet.
Anyhow, inside the box we do have the typical “stuff in bags” packaging. Although this one surprised me a second time because of how everything was pre-built or pre-clipped. I’ll get to that in a second. For now, let’s skip to the cards.
This is a multilanguage pack so you get a full play set of cards for each support language. All the options for upgrades are included based on the cards and bits available in the set. That’s pretty standard these days. But the format and cards have been updated to match the current style.
Next up, let’s talk about those bits…
These bits are straight out of the plastic bags. I didn’t clip or build anything; they came out this way. This was a new development because there’s no sprues here and the body of the T-47 was essentially pre-assembled. I just had to add the guns and the flight panels. So this build was pretty easy. Speaking of which, let’s check out the finished product.

This kit does allow for a fair bit of customization…but it’s mostly visual. The rear-facing weapon has two options but the real customization comes with how you want to glue in the panels. These panels are the flaps that open or close that aid in maneuvering for this craft. For the top panels, I just glued them close because I didn’t want to do a weird tilt on the base.
That said, if you wanted to get really creative with how you have the panels open or closed you absolutely could. That could lead to some neat posing with the flight stand. However, I didn’t want to glue it directly to the stand for transportation reasons.
Here’s a look at the rear. You can see the additional panels glued on to the underside. It really wasn’t too complex here. This was a really fast build.
The only real piece of modeling advice I have on this one is for the guns. First off, dry fit them so you know which barrel goes in which slot. Part of the barrel is flat so you should be able to dry fit them and find out really quick if it’s the correct side or not. The second tip here is to slice off about 1-2mm from the barrel’s peg that you’re going to insert into the ship. I do this so that the barrel slots all the way into the peg hole and there’s not a trapped air bubble preventing it from being flush. But again, this was a really easy build. Just take your time with it. I used plastic glue on my build but superglue would work fine, too.
T-47 Airspeeder Back In Business
The T-47 is back in stock and has it’s fancy new packaging. If you have the old miniature, from what I can tell, this is the same kit. So you’d just need the new cards. Anyhow, it’s ready to swoop in and support the Rebel forces on the ground in Star Wars: Legion!
Star Wars: Legion – T-47 Airspeeder $39.99
This expansion for Star WarsTM: Legion contains one T-47 Airspeeder miniature, enough for 1 Heavy unit as well as unit and upgrade cards to support gameplay. This pack is a reissue of the previously released SWL09 T-47 Airspeeder for Star Wars: Legion. This pack includes the same miniatures as SWL09 but updates the packaging and cards to the new SWQ multilingual format.
