Warhammer 40K: Battleforce Eldritch Raiders Pricing Breakdown
Will the new Eldritch Raiders boxed set steal your loot or be the best plunder ever for Warhammer 40,000? Let’s do some math to find out!
There is a new Battleforce Eldritch Raiders on the way to pre-order this weekend and it’s your first crack at a handful of new kits from Games Workshop. Price Yriel along with his crew. But is this one going to be a good deal or not? Well, based on previous pricing for Battleforces this one is going to come in at $255. And we have a rough idea of what these boxes are going to cost individually. Or we can at least draw some comparisons. So let’s break this one down!
Eldritch Raiders Pricing Breakdown
Contents
Prince Yriel (based on named Aeldari Characters) = $48
Void Dreamer Kharseth (based on named Aeldari Characters) = $48
10x Corsair Skyreavers (based on Swooping Hawks) = $125
Starfang / Vyper (based on Starweaver*) = $48
10x Corsair Voidreavers (based on Aeldari Guardians) = $60
Total Estimated Individual MSRP = $329
Total Estimated Savings = $75
*I used the Starweaver because it’s roughly the same size as the Starfang/Vyper but is also a dual-kit. I would not be surprised if it was closer to the $60 price point however.
So part of me wonders if I low balled this estimated price or not. For example, the Corsair Voidreavers were a Kill Team that was $60 at launch. That included all the Kill Team extras. At the same time that was back in 2022 and the GW has had to update pricing. I’m also assuming the Skyreavers are going to end up being a solo release in a box of 5 models in the future. That would make sense based on their datasheet.
Honestly, this is a weird army to estimate prices overall because of how old the Aeldari range is right now. Sure, there’s a lot of new kits, but there’s also a ton of older kits. When you add in the Drukhari units still being priced at points from several years ago things get funky. Regardless, the savings are there overall. It’s not as deep of a discount as the Red Corsairs boxed set however. That’s likely due to the lack of an upgrade sprue and some other bits.
Is It Aeldari Pirate Time?
Overall, while this deal doesn’t seem like you’re raiding GW’s loot, it’s still decent for Games Workshop. If you’re looking to start this particular army it seems like a no-brainer purchase, too. Honestly, the army does seem fun and challenging to play. Rules-wise they seem very much like a glass cannon. They can put out some serious damage but they are still packing Toughness 3 on most of their army. However, they can be somewhat squirrelly and hard to pin down.
I said this before and they might be less “Glass Cannon” and more “Laser Scalpel” in that regard. If you want to play an army that requires precision and timing to be effective the Voidscarred and Prince Yriel might be the one for you.
This boxed deal is strongly okay. Part of the appeal is that it’s basically all new stuff with the exception of the Corsairs Voidreavers, but this is basically a relaunch for that box, too. We also don’t have exact pricing on any of these solo boxed units. So, theoretically, this box might end up being more valuable once those actually come out. But I’m not going to bust out a financial calculator and do an appreciation value assessment on a battleforce box. The short answer is that it’s still cheaper to buy this box now vs buying all these units solo. But it’s your money — you do you.
Opting for the Aeldari Pirate life? Grab this one for sure.
