Games Workshop is unleashing Prince Yriel and the rest of his Eldritch Raiders to pre-order this weekend. Time for a closer look!

There’s a new Battleforce coming to pre-order and it’s your first crack at these new Aeldari miniatures. I guess they have bits of Drukhari in there, too…Let’s just call them Corsairs and continue. Anyhow, they are led by Prince Yriel and he’s also got a new miniature. We’ve got them in the studio so let’s see how they look up close!

Prince Yriel

Prince Yriel’s new miniature is a nice reimagining of him. This time, he’s in plastic as well. Plus he’s got an option for a helmet. That seems like a good idea when you’re a pirate captain who raids ships in the depths of space. I’d be worried about rapid decompression. Anyhow, clearly this has a nod to his old miniature and we’ve got his (in)famous Spear of Twilight in tow. To be honest, he does seem very Autarch-y with the helmet on though. Maybe it would be more characterful with his face exposed. Then again, I’m sure his foes would LOVE to place a shot right in his forehead. So I’d stick with the helmet.

Void Dreamer Kharseth

When it comes to Navigating Void Dreamer Kharseth is a top-tier deck hand to have around. I like the take of this miniature as an Aeldari psyker but also pirate navigator.  And maybe it’s just me but the staff is giving me some Eldrad Ulthran vibes…

Corsair Skyreavers

A new unit to the mix are the Corsair Skyreavers. This batch looks like a mix between Swooping Hawks, Aeldari Guardians, and Kabalite Warriors or Scourges. I don’t really have a problem with another Aeldari jumping unit like this. I just didn’t think we needed one. But I do like the blend of aesthetics they are drawing from.

They really do seem like a bridge unit between the Aeldari and Drukhari.

Starfang

Finally, we have the new Starfang kit. This one is a new and updated Vyper kit as well. The Starfang has the turret facing in reverse — probably to blast targets as it wizzes by.

The other option is the classic Vyper where the turret is facing the front. I’m ossilating between which one I’d want to build. If I ever wanted to bust out my Aeldari army again and update it, I’d probably go with Vypers. But if I wanted a clean slate with the Corsairs, it would be a Starfang all the way.

Still, I’m glad to see the Vyper get a new kit. It was getting up there! At the same time, I don’t know if you really need to update it. Maybe rebase your old ones if you absolutely wanted to. I still like the old kit!

What do you think of the new Aeldari Corsairs?
