Warhammer 40K: T’au ‘Twin Lance’ Datasheet Revealed – Just Keep Shooting
Who needs a magic sword to excel in close combat when you’ve got the T’au “Gun Kkata” training built into your battlesuit?
First up, if you don’t know what Gun Kata is just go watch Equilibrium and maybe some John Woo movies while you’re at it. And then maybe the John Wick movies while you’re at it.
Now that you’re all caught up, that’s basically what the Twin Lance is doing but in T’au Battlesuits, apparently! They go into battle with guns blazing and they just don’t ever stop shooting things — even in close combat!
This pair of exemplary battlesuit pilots weren’t always the Killing Blow personified, but after a nasty incident involving a Genestealer Patriarch and their team leader’s innards, they began to churn with ruthless aggression and take any chance they could to eradicate their foes at point-blank range. The thing is, unlike their disgraced predecessor, they don’t need a magic sword to do it – they just keep shooting.
The Twin Lance Datasheet
These two come loaded down with weapons. While that’s not anything new for the T’au, the Twin Lance does it with a bit more style. Or maybe raw aggression. Either way when they get within 18″ they just start BLASTIN’ away.
What’s really impressive is they have their Exemplars of the Mont’ka rule which gives them [Sustained Hits 1] and also [Ignores Cover]. While ignoring cover is super handy, it’s the fact that they can really throw out a ridiculous number of shots. Impressive even by T’au standards. What gets even crazier is that they are also Vehicles so you can pop Big Guns Never Tire on them so they can continue to blaze away in melee. PLUS they have some potent “shots” in melee thanks to their guns ALSO being usable as melee weapons. So yeah…they Just. Keep. SHOOTING.
Also, let’s not forget about those Neocapacitor Shields that do force a battleshock check AND can cause -1 to charge rolls to an enemy unit. On top of that Retro-thrusters give them a normal move at the end of the fight phase OR you can Fall Back. That ALSO seems super handy for these gunned-up Battlesuits.
Honestly, this is kind of a cool way to introduce the “new faces” of the T’au. Take that Farsight! The Twin Lances are the true heroes of the Great Good.
“So anyway I started Blastin’…”
