Warhammer 40K: The New Defiler Showcase – Now THAT Is A Daemon Engine
The new Defiler is here in all it’s daemon engine glory. The tabletops of Warhammer 40,000 are about it feel it’s wrath!
What if the Defiler had a bit more “Soulgrinder” to it? Or maybe the boxy nature got rounded off a bit? What if a Forgefiend had it’s Daemon inside explode outwardly more? Because that’s basically what’s going on with the new Defiler. See for yourself!
Defilers clank into battle at frightening speed on six crab-like legs, with the front two terminating in a pair of enormous claws that can shred steel plate like paper. Above the stabby, choppy part, the beast’s fleshmetal torso carries an arsenal of missiles and cannons to rival a battle tank, so the caged daemon inside has plenty to do while smashing towards their foe.
The New Chaos Defiler
Well, it looks like I was right about that preview. And I’m pretty excited to see it to be honest. Now, I’ve already got 2 Defilers in my collection. But, to be honest, I haven’t busted them out since maybe 5th edition. Will this one be any different for me? I sure hope so! This new kit has a few things going for it. For starters, vehicles work a *tad* different since “back in the day” and this one comes with a base. When I got my old Defilers, they didn’t have one and it was a whole thing…
Anyhow, there’s more to this kit than just a base. There’s more weapon options as well as a bunch of returning favorites. Oh, and how about new god-specific heads as well!
I do like those customization options! But really, it’s the weapon loadouts that are the real winners here. Check these out:
This one looks like it’s got a massive Autocannon as well as a plasma-type weapon in the chest. Oh and it’s hard to tell, but that’s the scourge flail close combat weapon for the left arm.
This version is packing two sets of Lascannons (probably twin-linked) and the classic battlecannon option. Fittingly, it’s painted up as an Iron Warrior Defiler. I’m pretty sure this one is ready for siege-mode!
And here’s a look at the new twin-linked something! Oh and the missile pod isn’t technically a new option but the redesign looks good.
Now I’m wondering if we’re ever going to get a Soulgrinder again. Oh well. Now before I got pre-order 2 of these I’m going to try and clamp down on my excitement. I’d like to know what they can do on the tabletop first. Oh man…I am I going to have to start a Chaos Monster Mash army? I need to give Goatboy a call…
How can I say no to big stompy chaos robots?!
