RPG: Go On A Brand New Adventure With Pathfinder 2E – Here’s Where To Start
Pathfinder is a great TTRPG system to jump into if you want to start on a new adventure with a slightly different ruleset.
If you’ve been thinking about checking out a TTRPG that isn’t the big one, or even have played a little Pathfinder and are ready to invest in some of the books for your own collection, these core books and supplements are a solid place to start.
Pathfinder Core Book Bundle
If you’re new to Pathfinder and looking for the right place to start, this is it. This set includes the Player Core, the GM Core, and the Monster Core. So it’s everything a bunch of brand new adventurers and GMs would need to learn the rules, make their first character, and start in on their first few encounters. In fact, you can have an endless number of very full and fulfilling adventures with just these books and a couple of dice. Past this point, everything else is just a bonus.
Player Core 2
Of course, bonus is great. And there are very few hobbies that we’ve gotten into and thought, “I only need the bear minimum. I’m done collecting now.” The Player Core 2 is a great next step for players who want to add a ton more options to their classes and ancestries. Plus it adds more spells, items, and general revisions and updates to the game.
The Dark Archive
You’ve got the basics, and now you want to explore the paranormal. And the Dark Archive lets players explore everything spooky and scary lurking at the edge of reality. You’ll find case files that will let adventurers explore different adventures and paranormal topics, as well as anomalies and mysteries. This book also introduces the Psychic and Thaumaturge classes.
Draconic Codex
Are you here for the dragons? We get it. Luckily, there’s an entire book for that. The Draconic Codex introduces more dragons, lore, and backgrounds, as well as dragonblood ancestries. Whether your players want to fight dragons, worship them, or something in between, this book has all of the dragon knowledge and know-how you’ll need to bring them to life at the table.
Battlecry!
If your table is populated by a lot of hands-on fighter types who love to rush into battle and get their weapons dirty, Battlecry! is the definitive Pathfinder war rulebook. It introduces the Commander and Guardian classes, as well as rules for every aspect of war from small skirmishes to massive battles.
Treasure Vault
Of course, once your players start going on all of these adventures, they’re going to expect treasure and upgraded equipment. And this book comes in with 6,000 unique pieces of equipment, including weapons, shields, armor, and magical items. There is even a chapter of just alchemical items. Weird items and weapons are one of the most fun little details in any TTRPG, so you’ll want to make sure that you always have a couple of good ones ready. And the Treasure Vault will do just that.
