The Eye of Terror is bringing a new batch of rules to Warhammer 40,000. It’s time for the Imperium to get its cut!

Yesterday, we got a look at the Iron Warriors and the other Chaos Space Marine unit rules coming with the Eye of Terror books. Now it’s the Ad Mech and Imperial Knights up to the plate. Let’s find out what they can do and if it’s going to be enough to stop the chaos advance.

Take a first look at the new rules for Archmagos Thulia Ghuld, her Hastarii, and the Knight Destrier.

Adeptus Mechanicus Eye of Terror Rules Preview

First up, we have the new Ad Mech character Thulia Ghuld. The Archmagos Terminus of Mars brings her devastation to the tabletop. You can see her stats and weapons above, but I really wanted to point out her abilities. Her Rod of the War Forge grants some nice shoot/charge/advance rules to various units. Additionally, Mechanicus Bodyguard gives her the Lone Operative rule when she’s within 3″ of another friendly Ad Mech unit. She basically has Fly with some extra bells and whistles thanks to Cybernetic Augmentation. Finally, she’s got Secutor of Olympus, which is a really good chance at some extra “free” damage to enemy vehicles.

I think Thulia Ghuld is going to be a nice option for folks who want to try another Epic Hero for the Ad Mech. She’s got a lot of utility and brings some strong firepower with her as well. O,h and she also opens up some more options with the new Hastarii units, too. Speaking of…

The Hastarii basically come in two flavors: Anti-infantry or Anti-vehicle fire support. The Exterminators above bring longer-range anti-infantry weapons with the Eradication caster. It has two fire modes, and both pack anti-infantry 4+ with them. Additionally, that Broad-spectrum Targeting Augur is also effective at pumping up the firepower, too.

The Hastarii Fusiliers are really the more anti-vehicle option with their high-strength Neutron Fusil shots. They also pack in D6+1 damage, which can really do a number once they punch through armor. Additionally, their version of their targeting assistance is called Monocular Targeting Helms. This one gives their Neutro Fusils Ignore Cover vs Monsters and Vehicles!

Imperial Knights Eye of Terror Rules Preview

The Ad Mech are also backed up by a new Imperial Knight with the Eye of Terror book. The Knight Destrier is a new version that sits kind of in the middle between Armigers and Knight Questoris. They are still plenty tough with toughness 10 and 18 wounds, and they pack a good amount of firepower. They are also rather versatile thanks to their weapon options as well. What’s really fun is if you go for the dual close-combat options. If you do, you get bonus attacks for all of them. This Knight is also surprisingly fast thanks to its Ram Jets as well. I think you could make it a viable option to charge into the enemy and cause some serious disruption to their plans.

Alternatively, saturation fire is also pretty handy for clearing objectives. You really can get creative with this Knight depending on how you build it. Personally, that Frag Bombard is calling to me. I would probably have to build it with that option just because it looks crazier than the Chastiser Gatling Cannon.
